I remember years ago when i was a kid, they moved big stuff out at night all the time so as not to interrupt trafic there, and on Gaskill where it connected to the main line through Jeannette.
1 morning there was a big traffic jam and it ended up being caused by a generator that was bolted to some special train car had left the tracks in the Elliot building/parking lot and once it hit the area there by the road, it actually flattened the tracks essentially making a \ / instead of | |. Took them 2 days to jack the generator up off the car, jack the car up and install new tracks.

Nawt free, gotta be a member of netflix, which I am so score...
Just scored a 120GB 360 hdd... cant wait for the new dash, so I can finally shut my DVD Drive up....
I have the new dash on one of my 360's but it cant connect to live until tomorrow since I was not in the preview program, it kicks ass, and playing GTA IV from the hdd with a silent dvd drive and no more streaming glitches kicks major ass.

Anyone know of any garages for sale in the area? Preferably a 2+ set-up.. Basically anywhere to work on a few cars at once.. You know.. Garage, shop, etc. Me and a few friends are trying to buy one..

Obviously we are all here because of cars. I dont know how much any of you follow what is happening with the "Big 3". Im sure all of you have atleast heard of the issues in Detroit. Now i traded my domestic in for a foreign vehicle, but i am 99% sure that i will purchase a domestic again in the next few years - be it a car or truck/suv. I still feel that this involves me. Especially since the Federal Government might help in the form of 25 Billion (if the Big 3 get all they are asking for) of the 700 Billion dollar bailout plan.

I agree with him. I had an uncle that worked for Fisher Body in West Mifflen for GM for almost 30 years before he was permanently "laid off". Luckily, he had other outlets. And currently, my wifes uncle works for a company that is in charge of going into car assembly plants and making sure that quality control checks are being performed. He has been in that part of the auto industry for the better part of 15 years. My point in all this is that even though many people would be affected by the Big 3 going bankrupt - even people i know - i still see it as a need in order to force a restructuring of management and practices that were set in place after the 2nd World War ended.
Just as icing on the cake - read how the CEO's of the Big 3 got to Washington where they begged for Billions in aid:

That makes me sick. Thoughts, comments, opinions, disagreements? You ALL have to have something to say about this. Regardless of how you feel, we are all going to be effected by it, whether we own/buy domestic vehicles or foreign vehicles.

I think they need to let them declare bankrupsy so they can get out from under the fat UAW contracts and restructure. They have pissed away money for the better part of the last 40 years while the reliability of their cars has fallen to dismal levels. They have only recently attempted to correct the reliability issues to combat their loss of market share. for decades they's sat back and said "aww eff it we'll get to it eventually" well eventually is to late. You know they say procrastination is like masturbation...in the end you just end up ****** yourself and in this case the big 3 fucked themselves! The government just gave them $25 billion in September so they could use the money to fund research for alternitive energy and now they want another $25 billion. That's total BS!! The bush administration has said that they are willing to sign off on restructuring the conditions on the $25 billion they've already given them so they are allowed to pay their bills with the $$$ and I'm OK with that but that's as far as I feel the government should go. If they bail them out then the rest of the companies that are failing are going to come to the government hat in hand and beg for assistance. When does it end?
On another note the big 3 have corporate regulations that require their ececutives to travel in corporate jets when traveling for security reasons. I realize how bad it looks though...

I don't really know much on the story.. Having that said.. My family has always bought American cars.. Mostly GM's.. Many Corvettes, Skylark GS Stage-II, Regal GS, a few Camaros, several S-10's, a couple Tahoes, Monte Carlo SS, my Cobalt, Malibu, Nova SS, Bel Air, Grand Prix, DeVille, Seville, etc. It goes back before the 50's.. More recently there's been a Mustang and a Jeep too.. But still American none the less.. I'm the only one who's ever bought anything different.. First car.. Accord.. I like American cars and enjoy supporting our economy.. But the simple fact is that even many "foreign" cars are made here.. My '93 Accord was made in Ohio.. It was only like 15% assembled in Japan.. You might be buying from an import manufacturer, but the car is most likely assembled by American workers.. A guy at my work used to work at the VW plant here in the area in the 80's.. So I mean, really.. But just to most people, American cars are lacking the build-quality, long-lasting appeal that Japanese and other import countries are known for.. I like my Cobalt.. Don't get me wrong.. But would I buy another one again..? Probably not.. There's just SO much out there.. Regardless, I will probably not buy another new car again for quite some time.. So I'm really not too crucial to this situation.. But My family will.. Right now it looks like we'll get an HHR and a new Mustang.. Two American cars.. I bought my Harley last year, which is, to my knowledge, totally American made.. I know the 883 motor, at least, even used to be made in York, PA.. In any case, it's a shitty situation.. Not just that, but the economy as we know it.. It'll be interesting to see the outcome..
My uncle was "second in command" at GM Fisher Body for quite a few years before he passed away. My family has always been big GM buyers. My parents have always purchased GM vehicles aside from one Dodge that they owned for a few years. I'm a huge GM fan myself.
I wrote a huge explanation, but then realized no one would read the wall of text that it became. Let me summarize my views:
- Need to at least try the bailout... too much at stake to just stand by and watch.
- Need reform, but change is difficult on that scale/level.
- Government involvement needed for help AND reform. *GASP*

C'mon you all own cars and there are only 3 replies? Surely the rest of you are not not acknowledging this?
On top of that, it looks that as of today, Nancy Pelosi has said there will be no decision on whether they will get their 25 Billion and that a decision will not come till after Thanksgiving. At that point the CEO's of the Big 3 have to come back and prove WHY the 25 Billion will help them out. Notice that it is why instead of how.

The only thing close was when I was looking at houses, there's something out near Carnegie that's a house w/2 car garage, then 2 commercial buildings. One was a body shop. They want like $90K for it.

Anybody see the story that broke today I believe it was that Rendell wants to get $35 million in loans to get f'in Boscov's out of bankruptcy? Loan or not, repaid or not, there are about a billion better uses for that kind of money.

There isn't enough people to purchase the amount of cars being made. Too many companies and not enough demand. Restructure or not this bailout is just a bandaid fix. What multimillion dollar corporation is on the list next to receive our money?
Hit up Craigslist. I think there's a section in there just for garages.
http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/prk/
Read the fine print though, not all garages will allow you to do work on cars there.

Tons. I don't mind the moving part. The quicker I'm packed and moved, the quicker I'm out of this shithole apartment. Last night just ticked me off because I was moving cars around, cut the wheel too sharp and smacked the front fascia of the car off the retaining wall in the driveway. Doesn't appear to be sheetmetal damage, but I won't have the time to get it fixed until after I move.
Oughhh hopefully you can get your car fixed easily. I am in the same boat, I hit a deer last weekend and I have a little ripple in my hood now. I'm gonna see if I can't get it pushed out.
Mine's pretty easy, no cracks, but there's a HUGE chunk out of the bumper. My neighbor here does body work, so I'ma head over there and see if I can get it sanded and filled and primered at least. I'm NOT doing the painting myself.

Tomorrow it might be a good deal again. Also, Top Gear finally got their hands on a Bugatti Veyron to run on its test track. Anyone that follows this knows JC has been pleading with Bugatti for years to get them one to test on the track.
