I think you're right on that.

Ah, I wasn't sure. I just know you can pay it off early, that's what I'm doing with mine. I'm up to September 2007 before I have another payment due.

Be careful with that unless you plan on keeping the car till the end of your ENTIRE term. If you were to go in tomorrow and trade your car on a new GM, you will lose what you have paid from tomorrow till september. With a smartbuy you cannot pay on the principle till your smartbuy term is up. Any plus equity paid on the car for future payments is lost upon termination of original smartbuy contract. Yeah, as i said, smartbuy FTL.

Touring or sport? http://www.crateenginedepot.com/sound/cobalt.wma

Do you guys think I can mount the ngk on the dash instead of the AEM wideband in the lil compartment like we talked about yesterday?

That is reason 101 of why I don't lease vehicles anymore. I've done 3. All 3 I was able to get out of with NO penalties.

Don't ask how... I have no clue.

I think I owe something like 20+ on mine, and the KBB said mine is worth 13,800.....
so upside-down is an understatement for me.

I owed 35K on the Titan when I traded it in... 5 yr lease that I had made 6 payments on.
They ended up giving me 27 for it.

So, tack that onto whatever i paid for the balt... and BLAMMO!

No new cars for me until this one gets crushed, stolen and totalled, or it's paid off.

SmartBuy is only 5 years, I plan on keeping the car 8-10 years...or forever. I think the shortest time we've ever kept a car is 8 years and that was my Cavalier.

Well techincially I only had my Skyhawk for 4 months, but my parents had it for 11 years. My dad's Blazer was around for 12 years, the truck he has now has been around for 8 years and counting, my mom's had her car 7 years and counting. We keep cars for a long time. When I was a kid we had a new car every 3 months, but that's cause they were dealer demos, so that doesn't really count.

LOL looks like I'm gonna be the only one holding down the Cobalt fort!!!

My next major purchase will be a house, so the SS has to last me a good long time. Even after I get a new car (or not-so-new car, either one) I'll probably keep it around for a track car.

Luckily my smartbuy is only for 3 years, and in a few months, 2. The only way to avoid penalties for canceling a smartbuy before the smartbuy term is up is to either trade in on a new GM or sell it outright and pay the rest of the smartbuy term off, plus disposal, plus principle with interest. Smartbuy is not a lease.

Don't get me wrong. I like the car.....

Just not sure if it'll make it to 200K miles. I need to find a beater or something.

I want to buy a house again, and hopefully in the next 2 years. I'll always have a car payment, so I don't care about that. I just hate beign upside down. That's why I pay extra on this one every month. Starting to pay more off the principal as the months go by.

I'm not sure what the next car will be. All depends on what's out there, where I live, and what I'm doing. If I'm still Auto-xing... then it will be one that is competitve in it's class.

If I'm not... then who knows.

Looks like the Arrival Blue will prevail in the end!! I have no plans to get rid of mine either. I'd actually like to get it paid off and keep it that way for a while. I would also like to get a house in the somewhat-near future. Even if I do manage to get a truck down the road, the Cobalt will probably stay around as the daily driver.

Maybe I will just buy a spare LSJ and Tranny, then just store it in the corner till this motor starts going around 100K.

Ah. No, I meant that if Alicia and I are the last ones here to own Cobalts, Arrival Blue will have prevailed. Purple and orange are just fads.
