2.4 owners also tend to switch to platinum +4 plugs for "massive" seat of the pants gains. Funny thing is electricity travels path of least resistance so one electrode is constantly geting hit, the rest get dirty and are never used again.
Yeah, I might haeve to think about that. Thanks... I never even gave that a thought until now.
CONGRATS Alicia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Drinks are on her next time we all go out
As was already discussed, synthetic is mostly for longevity/added engine protection/more time between oil changes. You're really not going to notice a power difference.
That being said, yeah, to me synthetic is well worth it. We've always used it in our cars, especially when they get over 50k miles on the car and we've never had an engine last less than 100k miles. Hell, we had two either hit or come damn close to 300k with little to no problems.

I had heard all the 'myths' about power and mileage improvements, and wanted to see if there was any truth to them. I actually didn't expect/wasn't looking for any power gains; an improvement in gas mileage would have been nice but that didn't happen. It did seem as though it ran a bit 'smoother' at first, but I think that was my imagination...
If I decide to stay with synthetic I'm going to up my oil-change intervals to 5K. Too damn expensive to be changing every 3K. I'll probably 'cheap out' and go back to conventional though... can't see spending that kind of money on an econo-box.

In case ya can't tell, I made my decision which job to go with. Needless to say I'm very happy with the decision. More money, more hours, the rest of my schooling is on the house, plus benefits and retirement. Sweet
Ok so many things to cover:
1) Congrats Alicia. That's awesome!
2) Synthetic is a maintenance thing as everyone stated. I do it just for the longevity.
3) 2.4 owners + spark plugs = lolocide
4) Mike, I thought you were the one that said you wanted your car to last well past 100,000 miles?
5) Post #1998.
6) Choo-choo.
That is all.

I'd 'like' for it to last that long, yeah. But I really don't want to dump $60 into it every couple months, either. I think that conventional oil, changed regularly, will do the job just as well.
OK... Dan
#6) Choo - Choo?
I wish I could dump $60 in it every couple MONTHS.... With all that $$ you're making with that new job, it should be a drop in the bucket.
If mine doesn't make it to 100K... I'll be walking to work by this time next year....lol

Whatever happened to starting on the car. Diaf. I'm driving my car and do some catastrophic damage that no one has ever seen before.
