Hey... that's ME... I'm Brian!
I'm going to be there!
Thanks for reminding me to call G-unit too. Have to do that later on.
Man, I'm getting H-U-N-G-R-Y
I'll be auto-xing but not at NP. I'm running State College, thinking of running for fall points up there, so I'll probably miss most of the remaining events here. We'll see how this weekend goes. There are certain people up there whose company I most definitely do not enjoy, if they're tolerable I'll go up, if not I'll run here.
Speaking of, if you're interested in a road trip BJ, there are 2 October events up there. Don't know if there are events here or not, usually there's a fairly big convoy from SCR/NP that runs CPR events when there's no schedule conflicts.

Well, since I'm not doing my Atlanta trip in 2 weekends.... I Will have plenty of vacation time left to use before years' end... SO.. I might be up for an event out there.

I will be at teh A-X tomorrow by 8-ish.
BJ is slated as going, and that's it so far.
Come on out and have some fun.
OH... and anything going on tonight???? I'll be at the Irwin Car cruise if anyone is wanting to go.
I know you guys are out doing the stage upgrades/clutch install, so gimmie a call.

No... since i had no support to put pressure on them, I placed 4th out of 4.
There was a BMW 325 that owned the class. He was about 1 sec faster than the fastest WRX. The bottom 3 spots were not far apart at all. The wrx beat me be .3 secs. I had a 45.5 and he had a 45.2.
It was a fun course and we got 5 runs in since there was only 87 cars.
Good to see you BJ. You might want to talk to some peoeple about the DSP classing. Others were saying that doing that mod would throw us into SM, but I'm looking into it.
Nate... good to meet you as well.
Back to work

ONSTAR??????
Yes, you will have to catch us up on your Adventures in Autocrossing.
I let me free trial run out on that. The $$ it saved on insurance didn't offset the cost of it.
K, the super fun auto-x extravaganza...
LOL, let me preface this by saying you guys have GOT to come out there sometime with me. I forgot how much fun it was just to hang out out there. Plus the drive out, while long (3 hours), is VERY interesting. Plus you guys would have a field day with the people in and around State College.
K, drop the dog off, drive out and get on the Turnpike at Donegal, get off at Somerset and take 219 through J'town to Ebensburg. Not a whole lot going on and 219 is LITTERED with cops, all the time. Get on 22 at Ebensburg and that's where the fun starts. I had a riced out Civic and a Mustang GT trying to race me the whole way up to Cresson Summit, then we get about 4 other cars in on the fun on the way down the mountain towards Altoona. In Altoona, I picked up I-99....the unwritten rule of I-99 is under no circumstances do you cruise below 80mph. With the group I was cruising with still intact we didn't drop below 110mph until I got off at Tyrone to get on 550. I ended up bumping into my ex on 550 on his way home from work, so we pretty much ran the whole way to 322 (two-lane road, but we were having fun in the twisties). That was the fun for the ride up.
Did pretty much nothing Saturday, left at 7am Sunday to get to the airport (it's about 30 miles outside of State College). Get up there, get registered, swap out tires, etc. I ran 3rd heat so the track would be hottest for the R-comps. The track was INSANE. FTD in a kart was 52 seconds. So first run, went off course. Second run got a 65.725 which would end up being my fastest comp run. Third run I got a 61.169 but missed one damn cone. That probably would have been my fastest run of the damn day had it not been for that cone. Fourth run I spun the car - yes, I FINALLY spun the car out on course and it was the most damn fun I've ever had. Also confirmed what Melissa said, it makes you a helluva lot faster cause a) you're not afraid of doing it again and b) you learn what the breaking point is of the car so you know how far is too far to push it.
And now for the OnStar OWNAGE...so I'm out on my last competition run of the day and absolutely tearin' it up - AT LEAST on pace to match my 61.1 run, definitely on my way to my fastest time of the day. On the runway there was a slalom. Halfway through the slalom, the car beeps and I hear "OnStar Emergency Services has been activated." So I'm thinking "Just finish the run, ignore it, don't get distracted." Keeps beeping. Going through a Chicago box on the way to the skidpad, phone rings and the OnStar lady comes over the speaker and goes "Hi, this is Denise from OnStar, I'm showing you've been involved in a collision?" So I'm now at the skidpad and I'm like "No, I haven't." I get through the hairpin, head toward the last slalom "Oh, well, we're showing your rollover sensor has been activated, we can start the reset procedure now if you're able to." Now I'm in the slalom and I'm like "NOW IS NOT A GOOD TIME." She's like "I can hold till you can pull the vehicle to the side of the road." In the meantime I've got the windows down, she's probably getting a good earful of my tires squealing, maybe could hear Nate announce my time. Melissa's running up to me I'm trying to shut her up. I get back to grid for noncomps and I reset the whole accident sensor. I was pissed.
The best part of the day though was that Josh could not catch me until his last run. No matter what he did, every time he got was slower than mine (BTW he won Street Mod for the year....so my car is no slouch against SM cars out there). I ended up getting 2nd in DSP...and actually had I been able to pull down the best time I got in non-comps I would have won by over 1.5 seconds against the 4-time defending DSP champ.... Also for those wondering, I also beat an SRT-4 w/ACR package and a more experienced driver
...
So now for non-comps. I let the one guy out there, Sam, drive my car. He's won nationals a bazillion times and he's a national auto-x instructor. He gets done (got a 60.887) and he's like DAMN, that car MOVES. So I was talking about what to do with it. Sam thinks it's the strongest car in D-stock and can win VERY easily (yes, he even thinks it's better than the stock 'Rex), so he recommended either taking off the intake and running DS or leaving the intake and running DSP. He said success in SM would depend entirely on what region I ran in. I'd be near the top out there, but a place like Steel Cities I'd be struggling.
At any rate, Josh went with me on my second run and I pulled down a 62.5 but killed 3 cones. The run after that was my best run of the day - 62.102 (63.675 was the best comp time in DSP)!!!!! The other two runs were just kinda "Eh"...the tires were dead and so was I. Most of my friends didn't make it out so I didn't get to drive any interesting cars
but I was more than happy enough with my own
.
LOL, appearantly very few people in Central PA have ever seen a Cobalt SS before. I had a crowd. Which was a feat because there was also a Viper SRT-10 and an SLK350 out there. There were people all over the car and they're like "DUDE! Is that a REAL one?!?!?!" "That's the first one I've seen!" "What the heck is that? The supercharger is stock? What all do you have done to it? That's one helluva fast car!" I had lots of people interested in my times too. The one guy has a C4 Grand Sport and he's like "Am I hearing your times right?! That can't be right, all you have is an intake and R-comps? Holy hell that car moves."
The Pep Boys crew would have been entertained all weekend. Just cruising around Saturday during the day and then Sunday after we ran, I had at least 15 people drive up to me and ask if they could race me. Those are just people that ASKED to race, not people that just revved or did fly-bys. It was insane, you guys definitely should make a trip up, it's well worth it.

DSP clarification
K, I asked Josh about it. Here's the e-mail I got verbatum:

thx and thnx 4 listning. im glad everyones so concerned but theres only so much simpathy i can take before i feel worse than i alredy am.
i forsee you kicking ass in dsp. **** girl, you had me and toby scared in sm. tobys been running close to 25 years and iv been doing it 5 yrs and ur right there w us w a lot less in mods an experience. dont tell my honda buddies, but i meant what i said about your car. i really do like it, you and mel are getting me addicted to boost. damn u.
as for rules, im strickly going by the rulebook but no pulleys. you might be able to swap underdrive but no supercharger. absolutely not. you also cant disable boost control. you have to have stock bpv, and you cant do anything to override it either mechanical or w the computer.
i hope u run the rest of the events up here, w or w/o melissa around. let me know. if not ill see u the 28th for sure.

Depends on whether you beat me or not :-P LOL.
Try out street mod, just see what it's capable of. After this weekend I'm REALLY curious.
Josh's best time was a 60.974, mine was a 62.102. I wish Josh would have run non-comps. And actually when Sam drove my car, he got a 60.877, so my car with JUST intake is capable of beating SM cars.
That being said, the SM cars in State College are different from the ones in Pittsburgh, but still, try it out.
OH and are you interested in running CPR on October 1st????? I think I have Brian somewhat convinced to go. I'm going for sure. If you go, you have to run SM though. It's a runway day so you should be able to kill everyone out there.
We'd have the potential to win SM, DS, and DSP.......if we can recruit Dan and find someone with just an intake on an SS/SC maybe we can wrap up STS and STX as well.
There's a HUGE group of RSX Type-S's up there as well as 2 or 3 SRT-4's....we can make it a sport compact shootout, hehehehe. And we should win easily, VERY easily. Purely time wise I beat every last one of them on Sunday.

I'm very interested in running this event. I have to talk to a friend of mine 1st though. He just bought a house and I promised him a hand when he moved. They are moving that weekend, so I'll have to see how much help he's going to get.
Also, Is this just for the day there???? How far ( time wise ) is the drive?? I am thinking if it's just Sunday, I might leave Super early from here, and drive up and drive home.
I actually have a friend that lives in State College that I could room with I think. I'll have to talk to them and see if they are going to be in town.

Oh, and while i'm thinking of it....
If you look at the majority of times in SM... at least at the NP events... MOST of the SM cars are not far ahead of my times, and I'm a so/so driver. I would love to get a good driver behind the wheel of my car and see what it can do.
My Cousin's WRX that he has ALOT of $$ into is doing right about the same times as me, give or take a 1/2 sec.... in the PAX.. I'm consistently higher than him as well. Not that the PAX is anything, but when you look overall.... I think it speaks well for the cars.
