Question Window Tinitng

New Cobalt SS owner here (Sunburst Orange) , I want to tint my windows; looking

for any advice for a good

percentage of the tint, without getting pulled over here on Long Island.

Any recommended shops on the island as well? I heard about Lorenzo's in the Bronx, but

he charges $250!

Thank You.

I have 18% up front, 7% everywhere else. I've been ticketed twice now for the tint, it woulda been 3 times, but the last cop who wrote me up for speeding (80 on freeway..gay) had to drop the tint charge because i still hadn't taken care of my previous ticket that's due March 22nd.

I live in NY as well, sadly we have to keep the front windows at 70%...which is the stock tint

I'll be getting tints shortly, i'm thinking about either 20% in the rears and 30% up front or 30% all the way around.

20% all around is too much, they'll get you for that...NY blows!

I have 35% all around in western NY............ Have had three tickets in a year... none of them in my home town but little towns near by. They barely have a store but they all have the little tint meter to get your cash.

Curious since we're talking about window tint here...

The legal limit for window tint in the state of Florida is 15% all around. So that's what I'll be getting on my car when I get a chance. But I know a lot of other states have much more restricting limits on their window tint. I'm originally from Massachusetts, so a drive from Florida back home takes me through a whole bunch of states with a whole bunch of different limits. Does the limit of 15% constantly apply to my car since it's registered in Florida, or will cops have a right to harass me if I pass through a 35% limit state with my 15% tint?

Nope they can't ticket you for that, as long as you aren't in the state for a long period of time.

They might be ********* about it, but they can't give you a ticket.

If I ate doughnuts as much as they did and had the bubbly body to prove it, I'd be a ******** to people too.

Thanks, I'll be going with the 15% tint for sure. When I get price quotes I'll throw them in here so people can see what the going rate is. Shouldn't be too long before I get it done, it's starting to warm up down here.

15% tint? did it before and never again
too dangerous at night. even 35% was not great.
going with 70% all the way around.
will still be dark enough at night.
will put same tint on fromt windshield for 7" of the top. this makes a big difference on how dark it is from the outside.

With a black car, I think the 15% is the way to go. Black on black with more black on the wheels, and then even more black looks pretty sleek to me. I'm going with 15% because I work at night, the daytime is when my car is seen. But I think I might consider your windshield wrap, it makes sense.

if you want dark then view a car with 35 to 45% you will find that still appealing.

I went with 35% and found night driving a real pain. I would roll down windows after learning the hard way that I could hardly see cars coming with no street lights. also to see where to go in a turn was difficult. I hated 35%. at night with any tint people wont see in

you will find 15% way to dark trust me. only good for day time

What is stock tint on an 05 Cobalt LT sedan? I think I'd like to go with a 50 or 60% (not too dark I know, but I want to stay legal) on my rear windows.

i'd say 35%, that's what we can do in MA. you can definitely get it done cheaper, let me know if you'd consider coming to MA to do it and i can set it up for you.

70% is the STOCK window tint on our cars, anything around there is a total waste of money!!

Personally I think any percentage higher than 35% is just useless, don't waste your money unless you plan on atleast getting 35%.

Really? Must have been a really bright day because the percentage in the back definately doesn't look like 15%.

The number 70% = amount of light allowed through. 35% lets in less light than 70%.

Tint on top of Tint = more tint. sounds funny when I read it but it is true. my car has no factory tint to my knowledge. if it does then its like 95% tint.

I had 35% tint. under street light it was OK. on the highway you had troubles or dark streets I had trouble seeing people walking on the street.

I have driven a car with 15% and there is no way I would ever do that. its hopeless for night driving. that is why there is laws now. it has caused accidents.
