Dyno for a Harrop in an Ariel

Morning guys! This is my first post in the forums. I have a 2006 Ariel Atom 2 in the Sumner area of Washington and am going to need to dyno it soon. The engine is a 2006 LSJ 2.0 that has now had the Heaton removed and a Harrop in its place. All of the mechanicals should be completed in the next three weeks or so. I need to know who has had good luck with a local dyno and the LSJ specifically or with HP Tuners software? The car is being modified in central Oregon, so, a dyno in Portland or Seattle would work.

Modifications to the car are: forged 9.5:1 pistons, Fortress exhaust and header, Quaife close ratio 6 speed conversion, SPEC 2+ clutch and aluminum flywheel, custom intake and MAF housing, metered meth injection, remote oil filter and cooler, oil accumulator, custom air to liquid intercooler, Alcon race brake package, 60lb injectors, LS4 throttle body, high pressure fuel pump and regulator, GM valve springs and Ariel race suspension

Thanks for your help, Norm

OK, ... OK, I have posted some pictures in "my pictures". One with the blue panels and three shot in Texas when I bought the car with the yellow panels. Nine are a couple of weeks ago during "re-construction"

To answer a PM that was sent to me. I absolutely love the 6 speed conversion. I do not know how first is in your cars, but, it was virtually worthless in an Atom. It was just way to low, great for slamming people in the seat, not much else. With the stock transmission I would start out in second and use third and fourth and rarely fifth. Fifth did not have a spring lock out and was very hard to find, especially when you were looking for it. For those that don't know, the Quaife kit is quite a bit stronger than stock and has a higher first and the old fifth is about the same ratio as the new sixth. Sixth is almost a straight cut gear. The six speed spreads the gears out very well and we were able to add a spring lock out for the fifth and sixth gears in the Atom's shifter, so, all is well. Don't get me wrong, it was a very expensive conversion, but, I went essentially from a three speed to a six.

I have also been asked about the high pressure fuel system. I really don't know the particulars on this ... The installer does. I do know that we have installed 60lb injectors, LS4 throttle body, high pressure fuel pump, regulator and filter. If specifics are needed, I will have to get back to you on that.

I envy you and hate you, both at the same time... I'll salute you anyway

Unreal car man. I'll leave Harrop related comments to the experts, but best of luck!

The stock ECM in the Atom is a GM ECM, but, it is locked out of HP tuners. I bought a used Cobalt one and we are going forward with it. I may build an engine from a race block in the years to come, but, for now this should be enough. If I do build a more aggressive engine I will add the appropriate engine management later.

im working with someone on a standalone system for the lsj's right now. using a couple cars as a test bed for it when i get the cam and crank trigger set in there.

there is a reason why it's locked out. half of the stuff is shut off for use without a bcm in the ariel. there should be away around it though

I am aware of those items. Several on the Atom forums have gotten around it including the person doing the work on my car

A picture is worth ten thousands words. How do I add a picture to a comment, ... maybe I am just a bit thick at the moment, but, I don't see it.

I put a picture under my images of the part that I bought from TMI in Virginia. It was a block off plate and a spring that we plumbed from.

When that goes to production, that will be awesome! The projected price is around $225,000

From his picture it appears he disconnected the factory oil cooler and installed the plate in the picture and some stainless -an lines, I'm assuming going to the oil filter as well as an oil-to-air (instead of the oil-to-coolant), oil cooler.
