Open-faced vs closed-face helmet
So I finally found a place here in Portland that has SNELL helmets for racing. Whats your input on open-face vs closed-face.
I'm thinking open but I dunno lol

if your air bag breaks your helmet enough to **** you face up then you bought a bicycle helmet.
buy a full face and take the visor off.
make sure it is rated for Snell SA2010
Bill
PS you look like a *** at the dragstrip with an actual open face

OP, try them both on and see how they feel. I wear a closed face for auto-x and to be honest, I don't have it on long enough to even really notice it. It's also an M rated helmet so it's a shade lighter. When I was looking for a road racing helmet, I tested out both a closed and open faced helmet. I found that for long runs, the closed face really bothered me, the edges of the helmet were in my field of vision plus after a few laps, I don't know, it just started to make me feel claustrophobic almost. The open face helmet felt a lot more natural and didn't bother me so much for longer runs.

This is a lot of good points. I'm heading to Competition Motorsports tomorrow after work and I'll try on both. Plus, they'll probably have some good input.
Thank you much!

Try them on, and leave each on for a couple of minutes. Like I said, at an auto-x where I have it on for maybe 2 minutes at a time, a closed face helmet is fine for me, it's when I have to have it on for 30 minute sessions that it really starts to bother me.

Take off the visor. Some tracks will not pass you for safety if you have a closed-face helmet with the visor still on.
Oh my God. I love you so much right now. That. That's sig worthy. Seriously. <3 you.

I wear glasses. Nearly impossible to get them on through a closed face helmet.
I prefer open face and have reced for years with one. Not legal below 10 seconds though.....but you have a long way to get there with the Cobalt.

So I went and got one today. I wound up getting a closed-face helmet. I talked to some of the guys at the shop...they all recomended closed face. I tried on both for a while and started to like the closed face better. I t just felt more safe to me incase things got a lil crazy.
I would up getting a closed-face SA2010 Z9-APX ZeroNineRacing helmet
