September 11
That was a very sad time. I remember it like it was yesterday too. I had just come off of deployment and my ship(uss nassau) was put in the shipyards for repairs. I was walking through the hangar bay and my chief stops me and tells me to go back to our division office and watch the news. That was crazy! All bases around this area went on high alert and I had never seen everyone here shocked. Mostly everyone was axious to go out and do something about it.
i think everyone on this site should make a petition to make it a national day of mourning.. no one wants to go to work on a day like this, and it's kind of scary of what we're susceptible to

And like they stated before - also with pearl harbor day - we should do away with crap like pres day and pres bdays and get these.
Yea I remember that day well. I was working at IBM at the time. I was getting ready to go into work late that morning and had the news on. I saw that they were talking about one of the towers had some kind of crash. Then next thing I know we see live on tv the other plane crash into the building. I had to sit down when I saw that. It was like it was make believe or something. I couldn't wrap my mind around it. Then when they announced that the pentagon was also hit I was calling work telling my boss to turn on tv or something and get news about what was going on. I gave her a play by play. I remember driving in to work as I drove by DFW airport seeing NO planes in the sky was strange. It was defanitly a eerie sence of quiet around the airport. Makes a person nervous to think about it really.
I still watch out for things that look suspicious. I remember my mom completely freaked out. Accusing anyone that was Arab and I had to calm her down and explain that not everyone of that nationality was against Americans or wanted anything more than to live in peace.
Strange days indeed.
And yes this day needs to be remembered.
