ott stage 1 question
ott stage 1 question
i am planning on buying the ott stage one kit and an injen CAI. i was just wondering, would it be safe to run the 2.8" pulley with no cooling mods or would that be committing suicide? the car is going to be seeing a fair amount of abuse and i can't risk blowing up the motor.
Ah, my bad. It says that in his post.
My 2.8" 42lb ss has a xtra h/e and stu mod.
Iat2s about 120ish on a warm day, long 3rd gear pull.
You should be fine if the ott tune is good.
And i don't think ott sells stuff that doesn't work.

i wondered this to... i emailed ott and was told i should be fine but cooling mods were suggested but my cars my dd so i dont know if its worth the risk or would the results be similar/safer with gm stage 2 and a 2.9 pulley?
yeah i'm thinking its probably better to be safe than sorry. and thanks for the replies everyone

from what ive read ott stage 1 and gm stage 2 are pretty close in performance. but the way i look at it is your paying almost half the price gm charges and you get 60# injectors instead of the 42#.

iknow people with both setups not the exact ott kit so there tune might make alittle difference but pretty much the same and they both dynoed at about 260 to the crank with other bolt ons
The reason i would pay for the stage 2 is because of the whole warrenty issue and if something were to happen i could have that to fall back on, for an extra 300? it could save you if something ever did happen

the kit is good, it warms up IAT2 temps pretty fast without cooling mods ( Im not running cooling mods right now) but for normal driving and a pull or two you will be ok. I will be buying a HE soon though
as for warranty, warranty and modding a car dont go in the same sentence, if you want to keep modifying your car you will end up losing some parts of your warranty eventually.

has anyone had an issue with the pcm that they send you? i just got the kit and i did the refundable core charge so they sent me one that was tuned and i have done the passkey relearn and the other thing i had to do was the ckp recalibration but i have tried it on 3 different scanners and it wont do it. i have tried on a snap on "brick" the snap on MODIS and an OTC determinator. but for some reason the fuel cutoff wont kick in and start the recalibration. and until that gets recalibrated the car aint runnin right and has an issue with a high idle. any help would be nice since i have yet to hear back from the e-mails i sent to josh or sean and josh wont answer his phone.
thanks in advance
