OTTP Longtube Header

I finally found some time to post up pictures of our headers as they are being built. I think you will find that quality is second to none. A few people have said our header is over priced and have made comments about the quality. We only use rath gibson (usa made) 304 stainless, with the exception of the o2 bungs and the flex coupler, those are made by vibrant but are still 304 stainless steel and are not cheap knock off parts. The flex coupler we use is an interlock style so it can take years of abuse and should never fail, This is something to ask about when shopping for a downpipe/header, if it isn't an interlock flex it is a cheaper part that will fail. Here is the link to the product we use Vibrant Performance ::.

The collector. As of monday we are rolling out a new collector option, we will have one for more torque and one for more horsepower. On top is our original design and the design to use for maximum torque. On the bottom is the new addition for high hp. The top collector tapers from 2.5"-3", the bottom from 2.75"-3"

Here is another view of our collector. Some people ask why our collectors have a weld seam, that is because they are actually rolled from a sheet of stainless. Most competitors use a swege formed collector that is a round tube that has been stretched to fit around the primaries. Swege formed collectors don't flow as good and aren't as durable because the material thins down where it is stretched.

Next up is the merge bullet. We have changed over to a solid cast design that offers better flow and more durability. Any header worth anything should at least have a merge bullet in it.

The header flange. We use 3/8" thick and fully weld it from both sides, this adds extra strength and makes sure it won't leak. Some competitors don't do this to save time and money.

O2 bung placement, we have moved ours to the side of the collector. They fit better this way. Primary O2 bungs should always be in the collector or after it.

V-band flanges and leaks.....I had a custom gasket made and as of monday all headers that leave will have this gasket included, v-bands don't always leak but just to make sure they never leak we are including a gasket. I'll update with pictures of it later this weekend.

Manifold gasket......Our header comes with a SCE copper gasket, I have found it to be the best sealing gasket made.

Any way to upgrade to the new version? My o2 bungs are the old style, and on top, and no matter what i do, they hit the firewall sometimes :/

Also, any way i could get one of those spiffy gaskets?

Edit: do i spy a header for your Colorado/Canyon being made in the background?

Upgrading would involve selling your current model and buying this one. I can offer money for it but I need to know what kind of condition it's in. The other option is to send it back and I can put plugs in the top spots and weld angled o2's on the side of it. The gasket will be available seperately for $10. Colorado and cnayon headers can be seen here Exhaust I make 3 different versions.

Newt didnt have AMMFAB make that header. I did. I started that whole project, it was supposed to be built on my car. Just couldnt follow through with it couldnt get dates right for Mike to have my car. Newt got the first one, i was supposed to get the second. I know Mike's header is good. I am just looking to see if there are other options out there.

Installed mine today. It was great, hard to get past the valve cover and had to rotate motor but a lift was a god send! I like how the header puts the downpipe and resonator 1.5-2 inches higher in the exhaust tunnel avoiding road hazards while still clearing everything. I am concerned though because my exhaust is hitting the bracket at the middle exhaust hanger after resonator and before muffler. Any ideas on how to fix this? Just custom cut and weld or any catbacks account for this? Thanks

I like the sound, a Little Louder but much deeper and no rasp or drone (less than just catback) !

Josh, what are the differences between the budget long tube and the regular one you offer?

We actually don't make this style header anymore. The budget style is made in China, it has nothing fancy about it. The OTTP style is made here with all us components. It has a merge collector on it still, it also offers larger primary sizes and down pipe sizes. 1.875" or 2" primaries, and 3" or 3.5" down pipe.
