This is unnecessary drama. And it looks bad to post this kind of stuff up. OTTP obviously uses Powell's name because they were getting their supplies from Powell at one point and probably have an overstock of items that are in fact Powell products.

I have no idea what happened between the two, but this stuff doesn't need to be on an open forum. Zoomer is right, this is the kind of thing that creates rifts between members and halts any advancement the community might have been making.

John Powell and his shop are great people and a huge plus to have as part of the ecotec community. But this **** should be deleted.

No one needs to worry about whether or not they got "fake" parts. They would be built to the exact same specs, so there isn't going to be a difference between the 2. I got mine around christmas time as well. They look great and I am happy with them. Doesn't matter to me who made them.

With that being said, OTTP shouldn't be using Powell's name if Powell isn't profiting from it.....

This shouldnt be deleted it needs to be known. Ottp has more negative feedback then any vendor here, How they survive is beyond me but thats not the debate......

The simple message is beware the parts labeled Powell race shop is being sold with out the permission of the Owner....

Who do you want to support? the real supplier/engineers of these parts, so they can continue to be made for us or a company who is not allowed to sell them and where no money goes to the people responsible for these one of a kind parts.....

purchased and installed ottp stage 1 mounts this Christmas and jacked up car to change oil this weekend and noticed I could see daylight thru the rubber isolator. Is it normal for this to have separated?

I don't remember the exact story. I know it was a debate between two vendors selling coil overs for the Vetts. the fight got HUGE, I mean heated like people we're going to get beat up, sued, etc. Serious stuff. A vette had aparently hit a plank in the road and started the debate as own owner was claiming a superior product.

Eventually he got so angry he took a $100,000 car, installed his coil overs and drove at speed over a 6x6 plank to prove his product superiority. No one buys the copy cat anymore, no one doubts him. He ended the debate, sad to see it took the 'good guy' so much to prove the cloned coil overs were not as good. Video below:

To me this in no different then if OTTP made their own version of an intake a said it was an Injen. It doesn't matter how good a copy it is you are still buying a fake thinking you are getting the real thing. If he thinks it is as good as John's tell the truth and let people choose which one to buy.
Everyone knows that once a good idea comes out it's not long before someone comes out with a cheaper knockoff. I personally thinks it's pretty low to knock off your suppliers but at least if you know it is a clone you can make up your own mind.

Guys I am on vacation right now but will be back in on wednesday. All have to say for now is this.

All of the parts we currently sell were designed for us by powell. I paid him the money to make them for us, he decided to not sell exclusively to us and we moved on. Now he doesn't even send invoices or parts to us and I have to file a charge back to get my money back. It's been over 5 months, which I shouldn't be suprised because he always took forever to get us parts.

Everyone should go back a couple years and see what John made for this market. He had just made his first stock mount with a delrin insert and he only made t-cabs that went together with a snap ring and they used a non-sealed ball-joint. Now billet mounts are made, sealed T-cabs and L-cabs, sway bars , and steering rack spacers. Everything that was made up until about may of last year was done at my request with money from me. John likes to say that he made my business what it is, but his wouldn't be anything if it wasn't for Sean and I. When I refer to John's business, I am not referring to Powell Raceshop as he no longer owns it and he does all of this business on the side.

So your saying all the late parts were his fault? did ha make the intake i waited 6 months for? remember? the black powder coated one? not saying your product is bad, its quality stuff IMO, but dont try to blame that on him.

Also, saying look back a couple years and see what he made? look back a couple years and see WHAT WAS MADE IN GENERAL. NOTHING compared to now. go look at ZZP's site for example. WHO KNEW two years ago you could girdle an LSJ and not have to sleeve it? NOT YOU, cause you didn't offer it. advancing a platform takes time, and with this community being what it is, its going to take longer.

All in all what the point of this is, is to take his name off the site. thats it. that is ALL he wants. IF his rep meant nothing then you wouldn't still have it on there, but you KNOW that it does. I used to be a HUGE OTTP fan boi... but honestly man, everyone is having issues with you guys. I know your looking into the colorado market now, but if you dont have time to do both pick. No one is going to fault you. but come on man does it really matter to you if you leave it up there? it matter to him cause its HIS name. just fkn drop the name off ur site and call it a day, be a big boy.

OTTP would never answer my question in there rotated mount sale thread whether they fit or not, which ended up being ok, I would rather get the real deal.
You sure did sir.

this is funny....alot of people take the cobalt community seriously. did you just have a bad day and needed to vent? cause this **** is far from the truth.

That actually has nothing to do with this.....but you aren't telling the whole story. Don't you remeber how you spent a month or two deciding if you still wanted it because you were going turbo? You were gunna use the money towards something else.

actually that was the time that you were saying it "got messed up by the powder coater" at wich time i asked what you had to offer for LSJ-Ts, and you did offer to give me free labor in exchange for ginney pigging my car. seriously considered it, but never said "hold off on the intake" and you made it part of it when you said "he always took forever to get us parts" that to me means your trying to cop out on late deliveries on him. im not trying to bash you at all, you guys still make excellent products.

basicly all of this boils down to the fact that if you made him like you said, then removing his name from your site shouldnt mean anything right? but you wont because you know you didn't and that his rep is outstanding, and yours is fading for what ever reason. be it personal matters/personel matters what ever. just sayin man... doesn't make sense.
