yes it does as a weld wont stick to to the head and will stick to the stud after welding a nut on the stud you spin it out i do it on ISX cummins engines all the time on truck you use the wax to cool the weld and it will help pull the stud out

the washer helps protect the head but the heat wont effect the head as it will cool faster than the steel that what any machine shop would do

this method definitely works. and very straightforward

Pics of the damage?

is the car driveable? bring it to dallas, I can get the studs out, not a problem.
