What's the most power that's safe
2.8? 2.7?
I have a 2.6 (not installed) and I'm running meth with supporting cooling mods through the m62.

I'm debating whether or not my 2.6 is going to be too much.

Okay, I have dual pass and a heat exchanger, along with meth.

I have just been waiting to install the dual pass and h/e until I put on the 2.6.. Do it all at once while the s/c is off.
(H/e is mounted with no hoses attached LOL)

Obviously too much boost is never good on a stock bottom end. But our bottom ends are forged from the factory. Our factory pistons are the only piece not forged, and can be kept alive w/o damage with a solid tune on e-85 or methanol injection.

The 2.6 is chicken ****... to be honest, the m62 is pathetic in terms of air flow. Just to get it to spit out 500-550 cfm (19-21 psi depending on exhaust mods) you need to slap a 2.5/2.6 ring on it, spinning it well past 16000 rpm by 6500 rpm.

I'm at 111,xxx miles on my original block and head... best advice I can give is to keep iats and cylinder temps cool & out of knock (insert methanol or e-85) and don't be stupid with timing. Just because you can run 24* of timing @ peak cyl pressure aka peak torque, doesn't mean you should.

IMO... if your staying on a m62, get the Euthanasia port job, slap a 2.6 or 2.5 ring on it, and go to town. Otherwise get a larger blower such as a TVS or MP90, port the head and slap a 3.0-2.6 ring on either and start the giggles...

(NOTE: THE STOCK INTERCOOLER SYSTEM IS MORE THAN SUFFICIENT, EVEN ON A M62 WITH A 2.5 RING @ 21 PSI.... IF YOU RUN METHANOL INJECTION YOUR IAT2s WILL BE EXTREMELY MANAGEABLE. As in SUB 130s-140s by redline if not lower)

Oh, well, let me get at ya later today

My car ran 60's, 2.6, ported blower, and a tune by me. Nothing else, for a year. Ran a 13.6 @106, something along that. It was 5years ago and I can't verify it (for all the haters wanting slips). It's all in tuning, monitoring, and DRIVING SMART. This was without a wideband too LMAO. I'm now at 92k miles with stock block AND stock clutch. I even ran a TVS with a 2.7 pulley on E85 with 26* timing thru a ported head making 360hp for nearly a year. Only issue I had was a blown head gasket. I'd still have the TVS if I hadn't decided to go turbo, then got a bike instead haha
