i have an 07 manual tinting rearview mirror with onstar and maplights and i want to trade for an 05 or 06 automatic tinting rearview mirror with onstar and maplights...plugs should be the same...

let me know if anyone hates their self tinting mirror...

 

does anyone know if a truck mirror with the compass will plug in play in a cobalt

 

If possible you should try to get an 08 HHR mirror, it has the LED maplights, compass, and Onstar buttons, plus it's standard on every model.

 

dam thats a good call...now i just have to wait until someone totals one!

 

but sadly thats not too hard to find ...

 

lock this up mods got one at a bone yard for under 60 bucks

 

I'm curious, did you get an HHR mirror or just one from the Cobalt? If you got the HHR mirror how did it work out? Is it just plug and play?

 

i got one from a 05 cobalt...plugged it in and my 07 harness doesnt have 12v switched in the wire harness so i will be adding that tonight

 

Forgive my ignorance, but what do you have to do to ad it? I'm planning on ordering an HHR mirror when I order my car and then have the dealer install it. I hate the standard tilting Onstar mirror. Plus, I want a compass.

 

it needs a 12v switched supplied to the mirror...basically power feed when the ignition is turned on...does that help?

 

U should make a how to on this in case any1 else thinks of doing it....


I'd be up for it with the compass but otherwise I don't mind having to tint my 07 rearview...

 

Ok, now I understand but I thought it would already be getting that power because of the Onstar controls. Clearly this is not the case. Either way, I'll definitely be getting the dealer to do the instal so I can't be accused of messing anything up!

 

i will except i wont have many pictures unless someone else wants it done and wants to meet up...i will help them do it...

got the mirror all nice and clean (since it came from a boneyard it was filthy) and spliced power from my hardwired radar detector wiring, dropped power down to the mirrors harness...installed pin into harness plugged it up and started the car...mirror powered up...shined light to it...it tinted....hit the phone and onstar butttons to test...i wanted to test the red one but i was scared cops would show up....bolted everything down and cleaned the windshield....

car has been in garage since...

and oh yah i got an inspection sticker that same day with my not so light tint...anyone in mass knows this is a bitch...
