How to take off wing off a SS
I just took off my wing today, pretty easy procedure, if you got the right tools.
Thought id make a How To.
Things you need.
1- 10mm Socket
2- Hair Drier Gun.
3- Goo gone. Or anything that takes out glue.
4- Patience!
YOu first have to start by taking out the cover so you can uncover the bolts.
They are popped on so you have to use a lil bit of force on the lil plastic bolts that are popped on there.
2- After that proceed to take out the bolts with the 10mm socket.
3- This is where the hardest part comes in. The wing has a lot of glue so it practically wont move when you take off the bolts. Now this is the part when you grab the hairdryer gun and heat up through the inside of the trunk on the part where the two bolts are, heat it up to the point where it almost burns to the touch,
4- Once this side is heated it should come right off, just move it around until you can pop it off, the glue should still be working but it will be mostly melted so it will be easy to take off.
5- Have a friend hold the side of the wing that has been taken off since you dont want it to glue back together.
6-Repeat procedure 3 and four to take off the other side of the wing.
7- Once the wing is off a lot of glue will be left on the trunk, make sure you wet it first before you use the googone to take it off. I wet a towel and put a lot of moisture around it just not soakin wet! After that this is where patience comes in, You have to take off all the glue off of the trunk with the goo gone. after you do this clean it good and some wax should help a lot after all the glue is removed.
8- To cover the holes I used back electrical tape and then on top of the elctrical tape I used normal tape to reinforced it, I used black electrical tape since my car is black.
After this enjoy you wingless cobalt and also the rearview from the rearview mirror!!!
YOu can now see wether that ford coutour behind you is actually a cop or not!
LOL,
If you have any questions just post them here.
