2K5SS/SC?'s "The Green Monster's Ghost"
Well some of the old school peeps on here might remember me from being one of the OG's on here and my secondary project car I built alongside of my Cobalt. The Cobalt was totaled out last November by my ex girlfriend. So after 6 or so beloved years of building my last Integra, tradgedy struck on top of it all. I was cruising home in a heavy downpour when the front tires hydroplaned, scrubbed a curb, and then spun me backwards into a telephone in the blink of an eye. I was in a loosing battle of cars needless to say, but USAA paid out the Cobalt decently, so here is what I ended up doing. If you are a Honda/Acura hater then oh well...

Not long before the incident...

The day after the incident... a crying shame

A couple weeks later I picked up the new replacement shell...

Obsticles to overcome... yeah

Small view of a section of the wire tuck gone wrong. It took 20+ hours of work to trace, repair, and finish properly...

Semi tucked bay painted Rustoleum white to match the PPG Acura Pearl exterior better. Not my doing, but hey at least it wasn't green still...

Lower core support surprise! Surprise most of it's not there!

Another view of the carnage to fit a half radiator and backdoor intercooler...

Dropped the motor and trans in...

Out with the old and in with the new! Nothing a little drilling, measuring, and welding couldn't fix!

All primed and painted, yes that is spray bombed but it is 100 times better than before!

Sneak peak while swapping the suspension over...

Finally road worthy awhile later to get her registered and a new windshield...

Clear views and cleaned up!

Not big on stickers and whatnot, but my roomate bought it so I'll rock it...

Monkey bars in the back and Recaros up front!

Sitting fairly fresh minus the previous owner's bumper hack/scrapage...

A night out on the town...

A little three wheeling action for you...

Oh and sneak peak what's on the inside. 87x84mm of sleeved and forged goodness!

I would have taken more pictures doing all the wire repairs/tucking, sanding, painting, welding, and turning wrench but I was short on time to finish it before I deployed. I gave her a tune up before I left and she was pulling nice a strong at 23.6ish PSI on my 93 pump gas street tune! On a Mustang Dyno, the old car made 297.6whp and 234wtrq on an old tired stock GSR w/ the EVO III 16g at 16psi for reference. All work was done by myself in my garage/driveway or SenecalFAB as we like to call it. Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoy!

I'll probably be keeping the USDM front end, but I really want the 94-97 front bumper, headlights, and SIR lip for it. I do have the JDM front end still though in my garage, so it's always a possibility in the future.
Thanks. I had 20+ hours into the wiring and want to drive back to Georgia to shoot the kid that owned it before me. lol
Nice teggy!! Screw the haters, that looks good.
yeah there's tons of Honda bashing these days. If integras, two door and hatch civics, and eclipse hadn't jumped in price due to the fast and furious craze, I'd be buying one for my next car. I mean I'm still buying a Honda for my next build car, just not a run of the mill every day modded Honda.
Don't get me wrong the Cobalt was a blast from GM Stage 2 all the way to the custom twinscrew swap I had, but Hondas/Acuras are so much easier to build and the parts are easier to come by. Although, I fabricated all my parts so it wasn't that easy. lol Hell, I even bought another CRX that wasn't running and fixed that up for all motor fun!
Oh I agree. Cobalts are fun. But they're heavy for a 4 cylinder and we have about two dozen distributors of parts from about a dozen manufacturers then the rest is all got to be custom built. We're limited on tuning options. And he'll some of our stock OEM parts are no longer being made. Where as any performance shop sells parts for and has the ability to tune Hondas. Almost every website you go to for performance parts has stuff out the ass for the Honda market. Plus Hondas are light and eat to make even lighter. I mean you strip one down to below two thousand pounds and bolt in a 400+whp motor and you've got yourself a license to pilot a cruise missile. Haha

I'm looking at a Del Sol for a future project car. They weigh in around 2400 lbs and if it's a B16A2 then it comes with around 160hp. You can replace about 2/3 of the body panels with carbon fiber, lighter wheels, stripped interior, and removing components you don't need for a race car and drop below the 2000 lbs mark. The do a motor swap and turbo build to get it up over 400whp. Would be a nice little car to crush a lot of guys hopes and dreams with. Haha
Indeed that would crush some hopes and dreams. I don't dislike the Del Sol, but I'm not a huge fan of it for some reason either. lol I have no idea what it is about the DC chassis, but I love it more than the rest. I mean, the car is sitting at 2350 right now and I could lighten it up with a CF hood and hatch but I'd rather just spend the money on bigger injectors, a new snail, and retune it all.
I hear ya. I'm not a huge fan of the Del Sol either but theyre hella light and can be found incredibly cheap. Plus people don't expect them to be fast since they're girly ass little cars. I do dig the targa top on them though. That's about my biggest like for the whole car. Haha. Damn it man this thread has made me miss owning Hondas! For what I've got into my Balt right now between payments and mods I could be sitting on a mean little civic that I owned outright. SMH
Yeah I'm about to build an all motor setup for my CRX. I have a spare GSR shortblock with a spun rod bearing, but I also have another one with a cracked sleeve. I'm thinking about doing crank/rod swap into the good block, boring it to 81.5mm with some PR3 (B16A) pistons, and putting in the BC Stage 2 cams I have as well for around a 200-210whp all motor setup. In a car that weighs less than 2000lbs, it would be a blast!

I pretty much stole that car. Got it for a grand cash. It already had a B16 swap w/ Hasport mounts, Koni Yellow/GC coilovers, 2.5" Thermal R&D exhaust, a DC header, AEM WAI, and a DC sports strut bar. It had sat for two years and wasn't running, but about a week or so later a new fuel pump, fuel tank, and alternator she purred like a kitten and winds out to 8K all day!
Some older dude had it as his project and had to move to Texas. He let it sit for two years and used to pay for all his work to be done so he had no clue how to fix it. It took me a few days, but I got it worked out and she fires up like a champ every time now.
Damn. I live in Texas and there aren't too many decent CRXs or Hondas in general for that matter that come up for sale for a decent price. And if they do, they typically come up for sale when I don't have the extra cash laying around for it. Haha
