No choice... motor required more clearance.

 

This style hood came on C3 corvettes equipped with the L88 motor. The 1969 ZL1 corvette did have a similar one though.

The actual hood I have is the L88 hood, but its a reproduction thats made 4" higher than the original so I could fit it over my 383 stroker.

 

yikes thats alot of hood. A bb would clear my stock ss hood.
