Im assuming you mean C3, seeing C4 ran from 84-96....

I understand if the hoods not your taste, not everyone likes the same thing, no biggie. Honestly, between this site and the Vette forum Im on Ive had probably 40+ responses and your the only person that didnt like it, so I think thats a pretty good sign I was originally going to go with a "Stinger" hood but it wouldnt fit over my powerplant. The L88 high rise was the only hood (other than a plain ole' BIG cowl induction) that would fit.

Looks amazing bro. It's definitely not something I'd do to my vette but it does look gorgeous. I'm digging the L88 hood. I've still got the original L88 hood on mine so obviously it's not as tall but it still looks fantastic on your car.

Not my taste, but the car looks super clean. As long as you like it, that's all that matters. Building a car to impress others is not the point.

Thanks, and I do like it. It is big, especially from certain angles...but honestly in person the red stripe really breaks it up and it doesnt look that big.

I'm also not a huge fan of the C3 bodystyle anyway, dad had a '75 that was super clean, I've just never been a fan of the whole car.

Youre comparing a Camaro's engine bay and hood clearance to a C3 Vette? You could live inside a Camaro's engine bay compared to a Vette lol... Vettes have NO room in the engine bay...but thats why theyre so much quicker than Camaros were, same power, much less weight. My stock motor was close to my stock hood with a 2.5" air cleaner. There werent many aftermarket choices out there to fit my motor, it was either too small or real big. But like I said its really not as big in person as you may think....my air cleaner comes within a 1/2" or so to the hood.

75 was a pretty rough year anyways. 1980 was when they changed the looks and headed more towards a Grand Touring car to make up for the loss of power due to emissions. 75 had lost power but had no updated looks to make up for it, plus it had the urethane bumper that rounded down which Im not a fan of. I think 76 only made like 180hp.

Ive never been a fan of Cobalts....Im still not even sure why I bought one JK!.........kinda

Eh not my chooice in intakes and I wouldnt have ran a spacer if I was going to have clearance issues. My 70 Elky SS had a 454 and a 700 R4 in it.

You could have done some things differently to have made it cleared.

Hmm, well Ill make sure and call you next time before I pick my intake and hood. And I didnt run the spacer initially, but once I picked the hood I decided I could fit it under there and the performance benefits are worth it. But yeah, the motor makes 511hp/524tq, thats even more than I initially planned, so Im more than happy with it.

Again, youre comparing a car with a HUGE engine bay to a Corvette's engine bay. If youve never owned or built a Vette you have no idea what youre talking about.

Nope, not really. I already have a drop base air cleaner, and I didnt want to go any smaller than a 3" air cleaner element... PLUS.....I ACTUALLY LIKE THE HOOD I chose lol (believe it or not thats why I chose it).

Thats enough debate over what you like and dont like though, thats not what this thread was for....because, frankly constructive criticism is good but youre just rambling about how you dont like this, you dont like that.....blah blah blah. Enough Just out of curiousity though, you keep talking about these cars you have so lets see em. Im curious to see what they look like. Include pictures and specs of the motor too.

The day I bought it 2 1/2 years ago,

Its ready for paint, but I am indesisive on what color. The factory grananda gold, or GM Bright red. That what color I did the jams, but it would take much for me to change it. The wheels are for sale currently to go back with a set of 67 rally wheels.

Oh and my ELKY

No offense Im just into real muscle car era stuff. Nothing wrong with your car and it looks good, I just didnt like the hood. And you said it wouldnt clear, and you wanted to run the stinger hood, which looks bad ass. I was just saying maybe if you ran a different intake and remove that spacer you might have been able to make it work. That was all I was trying to say. Sorry for the miscommunication. My dad also has a X44 69 camaro we are building into a COPO car.
