Black Car + 1100 mile road trip = BLUE TAPE!!!
We all know how GM's black paint doesn't like rocks, not to mention bugs, so I decided to take some preliminary precautions for my trip from FL to NJ. 3 rolls of 2 inch blue painters tape equals....

you guys obviously never saw that video of the trip across america where the guys did the whole car in blue tape....
it was an amazing vid. lots of funny stuff on it.
id rather have to rubdown my entire paint and claybar it after the trip
than deal with the rockchips.

I must have missed that video.
Actually this blue tape "trick" was carried over from my old VW/Audi days, those guys have been doing it for quite some time, not to mention at autocrosses where people put it behind their wheels so as not to kick up rocks and chip the paint.

I do that when i go to car shows, not to that extream though. I just hit the bumper, mirrors, and behind the wheels. So while everyone is there taking bugs off, i'm just sitting there relaxing.
And that Audi video was pretty good.

OMG. That's rediculously hilarious and awesome at the same time!! Very tedious work it looks like, cause you can see that the lines from the tape are all straight and stuff. Good luck man, and make sure you give us an updated story on getting that stuff off when you get back!!
