CC08 now has a GMPP CAI
Those of you claiming that its not a GMPP intake need to take the time to read, if you can. I was the very first to call it out as a gmpp when I asked him how he converted it. Then others asked the same thing, if he is claiming it is and we are noticing it, then you obviously have no clue what a gmpp intake looks like. An intake isn't just about performance either ladies and gentlemen. It does improve gas mileage, which is more then enough incentive to get it at this point.
So QUIT ripping on him for trying and not knowing about how some things work. Instead help him understand. Damn you guys need to not flame some people so bad.
CC08, great job on ths intake. It does look nice and once you get that elbow it should be even better. Get the Touring cat-back when you can. I have the sport and its louder but its not sarcasticly loud. It does improve your low end power pretty good. More power means better gas mileage. I think that touring is perfect for you if you don't want loud.

CC08 props to you.
louder? then you did something wrong, CAI almost ALWAYS sound quiter then a SRI. its just simple fact.
you intake is not V-TOK. its not that it doesnt kick in, its that a SRI general provides more "low end then high end" and a CAI generaly "more high end then low end" but for the most part, you wont see a difference, its all in your head.

That's what I thought. And it never really floods here and if there's any puddles I usually avoid them anyway but if I have to go through one your usually supposed to get off the gas in case water does get in the fender when you have a CAI. I definitely got some hp gain cause gmpp SRI is 2hp dyno'ed so i guess CAI is another 2? So no it's not in my head. Other wise why else would I suddenly get torque steer when I floor it in first now?
If you really want to know, dyno it with the SRI, then dyno immediately after with the CAI or vice versa. But don't expect any significant difference.
You REALLY need to stop worrying what other people think. The sooner the better. If you're always doing things for the approval of others, you're going to be really miserable.
You went from an SRI already on the car to a CAI. You MIGHT get a hp or two if you went with something decent. Depending on how the kit was fabbed together, it's also possible to LOSE hp with a CAI. Since it's a kit you seem to have just fabbed together, I wouldn't have a whole lot of faith in seeing a big gain.
Troof.
You can't "feel" 2hp. I doubt you even gained that much. You had an SRI, now you have a CAI. Depending on the design it's actually possible to LOSE hp when you go to a CAI.

all of it
you live with your parents?
2 or 3 hp will not be that noticeable. it always did that, hell i got my 2003 cavalier to do that.

I can assure you that is NOT from the extra pipe. That's either a bad alignment (doubtful) or torque steer that you haven't noticed before (winnar).
In all seriousness CC08, not to rip on you or be a dick.... But you get torque steer out of the stock 2.4L SS. It just depends on how well the car is running, ie: temps, weight of you your passnegers and anything else. That will determine whether or not you feel the torque steer. IT is kinda cool knowing that its there, but you are better off getting rid of it when you have the money. Plenty of people here can help you when you are ready.
you wonder why your threads turn into flame wars, you dont listen to anyone at all, you have your mind set in something and thats all that matters, you need to open your mind to others.. stop being thick headed and listen to what people are saying, because they are right.
So it was 5 pages, got locked, cleaned up, unlocked and it's back to 5 pages... man they should've just left it how it was, more entertainment. I feel 20 pounds of torque and my steering goes 360 degrees when I slam on it in first gear since I got my CAI
So you say you installed it...then you say the dealer installed it..unless your talking about you making it a cai...besides that wouldn't be a gmpp anymore now would it?
Here are the facts:
1. The conversion looks cool, although not for me
2. your intake is quieter now, im almost positive of it
3. you do not need a hydroshield unless your going through a ton of water or if it rains a bunch, i mean downpours.
4. you hardly gained any whp or wtq, in fact with the longer pipe and twisting, creating less airflow, you may have lost some power.
5. torque steer is common with most FWD cars, some more thne others. our 2.4ss has quite a bit from the factory even.
6. you need to listen to everyone here because 90% of them know a lot more about the car then you do.
7. your still cc08, get used to it.
8. performance mods are much more fun, keep it up.
9. im out of facts
10. but i wanted 10 so there
here is the facts
-The last time you probly drove your car hard was when it was warmer in summer, it is now getting colder (colder air temps) so your car is drawing in colder air, colder air=more horsepower, more horsepower means more torque meaning you increased your toqrue steer....
-it was not from the CAI, its because its getting colder outside. simple fact, my car within the last 2 weeks pulls alot harder, simply because it is getting colder outside.

there is my 9 an 10.Colder, denser air= more power.
the fact is you think you did something to improve performance so now your brain thinks your car is magically way faster and has torque steer it didnt have before. its all in your head.

8: for a DD and I don't drive much it just doesn't seem worth it for the money.

Now that makes sense. It was really cool out last night, so that must explain it. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Well since my car is a DD I don't think i need to do much to it. That's one of the reasons I really don't mod by performance. It seems kinda like a waste of money when I barley drive at all, and not really anywhere far. But I think what was said below explains why I got torque steer all of a sudden
No no no, they installed the intake. I had the sri for a few months already. Then yesterday I my self made it into a CAI.
6: Of course they do, I don't know much about the technical of a car.

no problem, like i said earlyer, both the SRI AND CAI have been tested on the same car with the same realitive air temps, and there was only a few degrees of IAT difference between both, so really...it doesnt matter, your CAI will be better on really really hot days and the SRI will be better on really really cold days.
lmao.

THIS IS ******* AWSOME !!!!!
It typically doesn't make a significant difference in air temp either. Gotta do some digging, at one point there was a really well-done article comparing the two and pros and cons.
