Wow, some people on here are ridiculous. How come thinking something cops do is stupid means that you think everything cops do is stupid? I hate traffic police, they prevent nothing. You can fight about that all you want, they do nothing. This camera, it will help nothing, as with radars, speed traps, red light cameras, anything the law uses to stop traffic offenders. Now, that doesnt mean I think that these things are useless, I just feel as though we see these things failing so we come out with more, similar technology, that will again fail. Maybe we should use the money that goes into these "inventions" and try to find a new way to make roads more safe. A way to make cars more safe. A way to help police stop criminals that murder, and abuse people. And I do not feel protected from **** in this world, and I have no need to feel protected. Dont assume that I want police to protect me from "the mean things in this world." And if I wanted to be protected, then where were the police when my brother in law got killed by a drunk driver? Where were they when I had to console my grieving sister? I wish these technologies were worthwhile, then the drunk, speeding, running a red light man that killed my family member would have been stopped. And I would have been protected from this one mean thing in the world
theres nothing unfair about a cop following someone.
also, people always think a cop is following THEM, when they are behind them.....
most of the time they are just going the same way.
the simple fact is, young kids in nice cars a good portion of the time could really use a cop car up their ass.
just reading this site sometimes is plenty proof of that.
Being a criminal law student, that is pretty damn cool!
I just read some of the other comments, and some of you guys are just amazing.
Your right traffic cops dont do a damn thing, so next time you see them bust a drug dealing, wife beating, killer remind yourself that they are doing nothing at all. And when you get rearended by someone who has no insurance be sure to think of this video and how the system they used could have prevented it.
Cops to some of you are all worthless pigs, that is untill you need their help. Cops are just trying to make a living and do their job. I will agree, some cops are complete dicks, but dont let one ******** cop represent all police forces. I really can not believe some of the people on this site.
Also, WHO ******* CARES if a cop follows you, you shouldnt have a problem unless you are doing something wrong or have something to hide.
/End Rant! Ignorant people FTL

I dont see how this will help me when someone with no insurance rear ends me. And I dont think cops are worthless pigs, I just feel like traffic police do nothing that is helpful, it is wasting the time of a police officer who could be doing much more good. And it is not right to think that if a cop follows you it shouldnt bother you if you did nothing wrong. That is harassment, and I believe... yea, thats against the law. Im sorry I question things, I guess it makes me a terrible person. And I also recall a time when I broke down in the middle of a highway. I thought, hey I should call the police so they can help to protect people that may be inconvenienced by my immobile car. Called them, operator was a douche who felt like my issue was not very important. I was transferred to an officer who, upon hearing my story said, ok......... what should I do? I was shocked, he then tried to save himself by saying he would send an officer out immediately. After waiting for an HOUR, I decided to call my friend so we could push the car off the road. By the way, no police officers ever showed, EVER. But you are right, I will always jump to the police for help
Haha, usually it ends up me being the one following the cop. It's been three seperate times now, i've ended up following different cops for more than 50 Kms. It just ends up i'm speeding, and catch up to them. They're already doing 20 over the limit, so passing them is asking for a ticket, so i just cruise behind them. I imagine they get suspicious, but we're all going the same way... what else do you do? I haven't got a ticket from them for following behind them, even though we both were doing 20 over.

You didnt think that out to far.
theres a good chance that the fucktard with no insurance would get picked up LONG before he has a chance to rear end you, with hundreds of cars out there on the road scanning thousands of plates every shift.
so in fact, it will help you alot. but youd never even know about it.
traffic cops do nothing good? wtf? how old are you?
and harassment?
lol you guys are a riot.
You make a valid point, a point that I did not take into account. I feel like that is the point of a discussion board, we discuss our opinions on different issues presented on the forum. Im 20, please tell me why you question my age? Why cant I have an opinion that is different from yours? Am I not allowed to think that traffic police do no good? Im sorry that I feel like those officers should be able to use their time better. And I only brought up harassment because that is a legitimate complaint, it doesnt mean I believe that it is true, or that I would ever complain about harassment. How old are you that you cant even understand when someone is presenting an opinion in an argument?
King, you are presenting an argument, but you just forgot to think ahead of what this type of device and technology can do. I think that is what An0malous is getting at. You just jumped the gun. Don't worry, we've all done it before.
because only someone very young would question why we have traffic police.
the "could be doing something better with their time" argument is old, and never makes any sense if you truely spend some time thinking about it.
do you have any idea how many people die every year on the road?
It is also not harassment for a police officer to follow someone.
its their JOB to drive around. if they feel like following you for 8 hours....its still not harassment.

Word, I guess I did. I just got angry from the beginning. Too passionate about certain issues.
That does not sit well with me. I understand where you are coming from, but it does not make sense. Why should they be able to follow someone for hours? Why does no one question that? If my dentist spent hours doing something that I felt was unnecessary, I would question him

A officer following someone is not harassment, now if the SAME cop follows you over and over and over, that is harassment.
Why should a police officer be responsible for your broken down car? Call road side assistance or a tow truck. Chances are if a cop saw you he would have stopped to see what the problem was and called a tow truck for you. When the tow truck arrived, he would have left. Also imagine you are a dispatcher and you get 4 calls, one call for auto theft, a call for a person in need of immediate emergancy help, a call in for a drunk driver, and a call from someone whos car has broken down. The broken down car is going to the LAST thing getting taken care of reguardless if you were the first person to call, I am suprised they didnt just tell you to call a tow truck right off the bat.

But, officers are there to protect. I was in the middle of a busy highway. Tow truck was called, I have roadside assistance, the tow truck was on its way, GM told me 1-2 hours. I wanted to call the police cause I figured they were the ones who would protect the other motorists by directing traffic. People tend to listen to the police. I didnt want him to do anything about my car, I wanted him to protect the lives on the road
Not a problem, hope I didnt come off like a dick. Also, I read that a cop following you can be considered harassment in MD:
Harassment
Md. Criminal Law Code Ann. § 3-803. Harassment. Amended 2002.
(a) Prohibited. -- A person may not follow another in or about a public place or maliciously engage in a course of conduct that alarms or seriously annoys the other :
(1) with the intent to harass, alarm, or annoy the other ;
(2) after receiving a reasonable warning or request to stop by or on behalf of the other; and
(3) without a legal purpose .
(b) Exception. -- This section does not apply to a peaceable activity intended to express a political view or provide information to others .
(c) Penalty. -- A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 90 days or a fine not exceeding $ 500 or both .
I would suggest looking up the law in your state if you feel as though police continually follow you for no reason.
