Deer Aren't Smart

Had my first collision with a doe that caused damage. Looks to be only the hood. I tell you what the hunters were there like 15 min later to take away the remains.

Thanks for the concern. These are actually the SS/NA 17inch rims. no spacers. check my gallery for close up pics of how close they are to the brakes.

I have myself a kick ass rental . a 2011 Aveo Lt. She sports a whopping 108hp and irrc 106 lb trq. I passed somebody in this bad boy today and it was rather concerning. Took a while to complete. Total damage estimate was $1752.93. They are replacing the hood and found a cracked headlight housing.

True, but wouldn't it be a pain to convince the insurance to go for that?

There is no such thing as an OEM carbon fiber hood. There is a factory replica carbon fiber hood, but there is no such thing as an OEM carbon fiber hood as it pertains to the Cobalt.

Insurance will not pay for a carbon fiber hood. Depending on who you are covered by, they will most likely only pay for a used hood or an aftermarket knock off. Same goes for the headlamp. Whatever they pay, you can see if the shop you are working with will allow you to buy your own hood and see how it shakes out from there.

You can only collect an insurance check and do whatever you want with the money if you own the car and are not making payments on it. If you are making payments on it, the insurance company (in most states) has to write a two party check.

Aha I always forget about the payment part. Reason I asked was cuz my buddy hit a deer in his GTO and collected the money and got an aftermarket hood.

Best of luck to you man!

ah it's ok that I get an OEM style hood. As long as everything lines up ok I'm cool with it. Besides I think I like the fresh look of a red hood as opposed to a carbon fiber, although I hear you could paint carbon fiber, but then what is the point

^^negative, I got hit in my old car and got a $3000 check from the other guy's insurance cuz that's what the shop quoted me at.(traded it in an got the cobalt with that actually )

Happened to my buddy with a civic 2, but someone keyed the side of his car at this club and he got a quote, found a door for cheaper and got that. He's actually schemein to do his whole car like that an get a body kit now lol I think the only reason he got that is cuz we took some pictures before we left an his car was in the background

Notice how I stated "in most states" in my post. So let's not go saying how I am wrong when I did say "in most states" I run a body shop and in the state of Texas (just like MOST STATES) the insurance company must issue a two party check if payments are being made on the vehicle.
