Fall Photo Shoot: Me 'n my buddy's weekend cars

Left the Cobalt at home this weekend and went out with my buddy to rip around some back roads and snap some shots of our drift cars before we put them away for the winter.

This one's mine...

Got another week or so to drive it then it's back to the garage until the spring. Gotta get some damage fixed over the winter as well since some idiot teenage girl in a civic hit it yesterday. FML

^Yeah, man! My dude Brian keeps it deep. He never runs anything less that 11" on his cars.

^Thanks, dude. I built mine from a stock car with an automatic KA motor. Stripped it down to the chassis and started over. The end result was still pretty subtle but A LOT of work has been done to build that car. Much appreciated!

What engine do you have in there? I see it's turbo'd. Keep the KA and build it or throw in an SR20? Looking good man!

Awesome. Me and my brother were talking about buying a cheap drift car and building it over time. We were mainly looking at 240's, 300's, and there was a nive datsun

They're both SR20det swapped actually! Mine is a stock sr that's running 10lbs (They run 7lbs factory) and his is a fully built SR that runs around 19.5. He's making around 400 to the wheels

I would have kept the auto KA but it blew up after driving the car for just 3 weeks after I bought it. The cost to fix it would have been comparable to doing an SR swap so we just went that route instead. The SR also came with a manual tranny so I just installed a clutch pedal and got it going

They are gorgeous. Got any pics of the engine bays? I'm selling my bike this spring and am looking for a car to build. A 240 with an SR20 swap is high on my list of possibilities.

I know that feel. I sold my bike to build this. I had an 05 Yamaha R6 that was my baby for 9 years. I've never had as much fun in a car as I have with this thing. I definitely recommend them to everyone. Drift tax sucks and you'll likely pay way more for one of these than you should but the end result is amazing. Both of our cars are light as hell, there's nothing inside wither of them except seats and roll cages so they feel like they have a million horsepower. The SR swap is super easy too. That's what these cars came with in Japan so you don't even have to change mounts when you drop on in. I'll go get a bay pic for ya

Thank you sir. I've had my 2007 r6 for 4 years now. Nearly killed myself twice on it so its getting sold. Between that and a very hefty tax return I'm expecting i should have it running at least stock. I'm not even looking for a full on drift car, just something fun. The plan was to build the engine, toss in a very nice suspension, get some sticky tires and have a hell of a fun rwd car. I've never tried drifting before, so that plan may change once I get the car. But from what I've read it really is as simple as remove KA, Insert SR, drive.

^Dude, pretty much! My car is exactly that; fun car that I can drive on the street that slides. With no weight in it, it kicks the back out super easy on a stock 7lbs. Only bad thing is neither me or Brian can run a ton of angle due to how wide our front wheel set ups are. He's got a 10" front wheel I think and mine is 9" with 15mm spacers. Doesn't mean we cant drift, just wont be doing any reverse entries any time soon

I'll be completely honest, the bay isn't what I'm the most proud of on this car! the wiring harness isn't tucked but its pretty much a brand new factory harness from Wiring Specialties. When we were getting this car together we were trying to meet a deadline for a local drift event/car show where we were going to bring it out for the first time, so the bay ended being slightly thrown together. Everything works, nothing leaks, but me and another of my buddies will be going back in over the winter to clean things up, color match and tuck things away. We're also pulling the tranny out to replace a seal and installing a built LSD that handled 650whp on the car it was in previously

^very nice man! And to be completely honest, it doesn't look half bad. It's not the most organized bay in the world. I don't know what it is about these cars but there's something about the way the engine sits in there that is so pretty.

^Yeah, there was also an electrical issue we had to figure out recently. Required us ripping the entire harness out, putting another and ripping that out again. Our first neat n tidy tuck job went to **** and no one cared at that point since we got it running right!
However, I can take pics with my buddy Brian's car but I cant open my hood around his....

Yup, I'm gonna need a new pair of pants now. Is that the one you mentioned running 19.5, or are there like 100 240's running around Cinci? haha

^Yep, that's whats in the goldish car in the above photos. We both have s13 sr20det red tops but his motor is just as pretty inside as it is outside. That things got all sorts of built **** in it. Mine was more of a "F*ck, we only have 2 weeks left to get this done so put that wire right there and no I don't care what color ziptie you use!"
We do have plans to tub the front next year, that'll be done by the same guy who built my cage. So the bay should be all prettied up by next summer
