Angry Grrrrr, stupid F150 got in my way

Rear-ended a F150 that turned in front of me today, not a good start to my morning, especially only 150' from making it to work, wasted an hour of my day! Anyway here's some pics, not too much damage, just the hood. And for our Michigan members, this was right in front of the Detroit Arsenal in Warren (I work across the street), damn government contractors.

My car at the scene

His truck at the scene

At home, how much is a stock hood?

Interesting look for the grill, all wavy...

Looks like somebody punched it in the face

Now lift up your... hood

By the way, in case anybody is wondering, he was at fault, and thanks to his attitude with the responding officer, got 2 tickets rather than getting let off.

Sorry for you and your car.... Hopefully the jerk will learn his lesson for next time....

yeah, in jersey it's almost always your fault unless you can provide sufficient evidence saying otherwise.

but that really sucks dude, it seems like a lot of cobalt owners are getting into accidents and whatnot.

That's what the cop thought at first until he realized that I was going straight and the guy made a right turn into the left lane in front of me, at a red light for him no less (which was lawful except that I was coming up behind him faster than he was pulling out), and he was trying to tell the cop he had the right of way.

I was kind of thinking the same thing about the hood.

yeah, if he didn't have the hitch I'd probably just have scratches.

Cop told the guy he was at fault after hearing how it happened, then the guy got all pissed at the cop, they were yelling at eachother. it was rather funny.

Exactly it, all I could do was stomp on the clutch and brakes and lay on the horn...

The girfriend doesn't like the CF, and I'm undecided, so I think I'm gonna replace it with the stock one.

Yeah, the only reason it was so little was from braking so hard, otherwise it would have bee a couple inches lower, so right through the grill.

It wasn't too bad at all the onlt damage to his truck was the wireing harness for the trailer hookup, guess his hitch took most of it.

It'll get fixed one way or the other, have to see if the stock hood is more than my deductable or not, I did already file a claim though, since I wasn't at fault it won't affect my insurance wether they pay for it or if I just pay out of pocket.
the latch and everything does still line up well enough to be safe untill it's fixed.

Thank all of you for for the kind replies.

That sucks man. Go with the RKSport hood and paint it blue. BTW, what kind of rims are those? They look pretty decent.

Those are my winter wheels from TireRack.com, they look better when they're clean, alot of brake dust on them right now.
17x7 Sport Edition D3 Silver $89.00 each They're pretty light too, don't remember the actual weight though.
225/50VR-17 Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22 $161.00 each

The only aftermarket hood I really like is the CF SS style one in your sig, did you get yours from C-A or Modern? It would be a waste to paint the carbon fiber, anyone know if anybody has one like it in fiberglass?

If it's the other guy's fault then his insurance (or he) should be picking up the tab, with no out of pocket costs for you.

Generally, an aftermarket hood (Carbon Fiber or Fiberglass) is cheaper than a new stock equipement hood. Get the estimate for the repair work (which will include a new OEM hood, paint and labor) and have his insurance co send the check to you. Then buy the parts you want.

If you contact the company that makes the CF hood you want, you can probably get them to make one for you in Fiberglass. It'd be a special order, but would still likely save you some cash (my fiberglass hood was $150 cheaper than the CF equivelant). Alternatively, there is nothing wrong w/ painting the CF hood; it'll still likely be cheaper than the OEM replacement. In fact you may consider painting the entire hood except the "hood scoop" in the middle or some other effect like stripes.

Like I said, I'm undecied so it's like 1.25 votes no, and .5 yes. At least she's only 3/4 of a vote but this one is not temporary
If I do CF it will at least mostly painted.
