How to setup Incar Camera DVR setup.

So I see lots of these videos, of people that have a camera in the car rolling all the time when they are driving and they catch crazy stuff on video. Im wondering if anyone in here has tried something like this.

Id like to setup a camera with a digital recorder that I can leave run on my 30 minutes morning commute, and then somehow plug into the computer and edit. Who knows maybe ill catch some crazy **** every once a while. I am not camera savvy at all so I might need someone to hold my hand here.

Purchase a Go-Pro and mount it on the dash. Then bring it in with you to connect to the computer.. Simple, cheap and 1080p!

I've got a $40 generic Chinese one that IMO has better features than the goPro series. Its suction cupped right to the windshield, uses a 32GB SD card that automatically overwrites the oldest files when its full (about a week worth of daily driving before it overwrites), and it automatically starts recording when the ignition turns on, stops when ignition turns off.

Completely automated and 480p which is clear enough to see a licence plate about 100ft in front of the car. Just got a dumb bitch backing into me on camera a few days ago

i'm just interested in mounting location. the install part is very easy. just tap the positive into your windshield wiper fuse. it only gets power when the key is in the ignition. that's where i have my radar and boost gauges wired in.

This is awsome!! I was definitely hoping for a cheaper solution.

Would you mount top left of windshield and snake wires down the pillar?

Look into the Swan freestyle. It's a cheaper (1/3 the price) of a go pro, with all the accessories included. I have one...love it...well I also have a gopro....

Swan on woot was $135 new

For the price the swan has a ton to offer.

2.0" HD 1080p DVR Car Dash Camera Black Box Video Recorder | eBay

The one I have more or less^^

Mounting location: (Yes, its a very busy rear view mirror area hahaha)

Wired into any IGN wire as mentioned. It also has a setting that will auto record for 2-5-10 minutes when it senses movement. Awesome idea for parking it at night for break ins, but obviously needs a constant power hook up.

does that one above recorded just like the other models do higher up the page? that one looks pretty damn cool, although i can just output the video to my single din screen rather than having a 2" screen on the camera.

the screen folds flat, just open for the picture, and the unit itself is 75% hidden by the rear view mirror from the drivers seat.

It looks like that barrel looking one records in the same way. Its just if it starts recording as soon as its powered on that I didnt see.
If it does, I might get one as a rear view backup camera that also records the video!
