I should note that the one I have has a built in battery for when the car turns off and it loses power, it have back up power to save the recording.

I sent the seller of the other one a question about this so I'll post back when I get a response.

 

keep in mind that if a cop sees the camera he can confiscate the video.
thats why i got the stealth one and thats also the reason why my radar isn't in the center of my windshield. it's hidden.

radar is legal if its not a jammer, and I've actually been told it was a smart idea to have the dash cam by a cop at a road check.

understandable in your situation however. I'm actually excited about the potential for a recording rear view camera lol

so is a camera.
that doesn't mean an officer can't confiscate it if he sees it and pulls you over for a traffic violation for evidence. i know some good cops. they tell me all about the horror stories and what cops can do to get what they want.

you don't give the officer the camera ?
he'll find one thing to arrest you for. then the camera is his.
cops in tx can arrest you for everything except a speeding violation....if they want to. so it does pay to be courteous. no insurance? can be arrested. broken tail light? can be arrested. point is i don't want a huge camera in my windshield.

 

The swan has the SAME mount as the go pro. So I bought another go pro suction mount. Works great. I've raced a bunch of time without issue. I also put it on the front of my paddle board and went out in lake superior. For in car I have a roll bar mount, suction to sunroof and front window. Outside just find a flat'ish spot to suction it to....Oh and maybe have a emergency wire/string tied to it....that came in handy once....As seen in this video. We had a hockey skate string tied to the camera and closed into the door...

I just heard back and that small barrel shaped one does autorecord. I'm going to get one of them also
