The LSJ-body. HaveBlu
yea yea... it's not exactly a cobalt I know.
But I have lots of cobalt parts and I built my suspension to be akin to Cobalt SS status.
suspension/rims:
-Aluminum grand am control arms with poly bushings (makes front track width 1" wider up front)
-STD R3 coilovers
-Addco 25mm front sway bar
-Front strut bar
-Motegi traklite 16x7
-rear hubs spaced out (3" wider track width out back)
brakes:
-stock for now (wilwood 12.19" front kit being installed very soon)
-rear saturn S-car disc conversion
-manual brake conversion w/ Wilwood tandem master cylinder and modified brake pedal
interior:
-Racepak IQ3 display dash
-2009 cobalt SS T/C seats front and back
-door pads and pockets wrapped to match seats
-dash wrapped to match seats (needs redone)
-cobalt ss three spoke steering wheel (radio controls function)
engine:
-LSJ swap
-balance shaft delete
-dual pass endplate
-ZZP stage 3 h/e
-2.8" pulley
-60# injectors
-racetronix fuel pump
-drilled/ tapped fuel rail for -AN feed and return lines
-FueLab AFPR
-GMPP upgraded clutch
-LNF TOB w/ custom stainless steel line
-ARP headstuds
-ARP flywheel bolts
-F23 transmission
I don't have boosted brakes anymore, so I removed the nipple and tapped the M62 for a plug... maybe meth in the future?
test fit on the car about a million times
car is running at this point with a factory mustang degas bottle/ flow through h/e reservoir
another shot of the same. you can see the cap for the h/e reservoir on the far right barely
racepak IQ3 dash and cobalt ss wheel
3/4 rear
3/4 front
fake ass HDR front shot. best picture of the car IMO.
then winter happened... and now my lip looks like this:
so I'm converting to the older style one-piece headlights and putting an RKsport Import Fighter front on the car.
I just need to rewire the headlights and get the right hood then spray bomb the front so it doesn't look so damn ghetto.

oh, I also just got in on the OTTP Harrop group buy.
so I'll be swapping the M62 out for a TVS in the near future.
prolly going to throw a 3.0" or a 2.9" or a 2.8" on it or something, i'm not exactly sure yet.
here's a dumb video ****** around in a parking lot
I forgot to mention earlier the car has a 4-1 OBX header modified for 3" pipe to connect right to the collector.
3" stainless steel exhaust front to back. cat, resonator and muffler all by magnaflow. I welded it together myself.
the car's a lot of fun. traction is non existent.. I'm going to put stickier tires on it this spring and track if a few times with the M62 and the TVS.

I'm also thinking about a gen3 block upgrade and going to 88mm bore. I like the rev-happy nature of the short stroke tho, so I'll keep the LSJ crank.
The car is running on factory Jbody electronics, so I've done a lot of special mods to get it to run.
External trigger ring for the crank signal. I built the VR sensor bracket to replace the water pump cover
relocated the PS pump to the exhaust cam for more blower clearance
relocated the battery for more blower clearance
yes it has a wire nut... still there for now. gotta make an actual wire for this at some point
built a mounting plate for the heat exchanger which I originally was going to use for my air/air intercooler when I was gonna go turbo.. don't have any good pictures of it though. it bolts to the radiator support frame so mounting the h/e was super easy.
I was initially running on the L61 ignition (cavaliers come with this) but decided it sucked and I hated it and used LSJ coils and wired them up in wasted spark so the Jbody PCM can use them. since the LSJ coils have ignitors built in, this allowed me to ditch the ugly ICM and wire the coils straight to the Jbody PCM. Clean.
L61 ignition with modified LSJ coil cover:
LSJ coils wired in wasted spark with a coil cover I fabricated:
this was when the car was still n/a
also, a pic of the door and the seats
my seatbelts are also blue.. it is very close to matching the paintjob

wiring it was super easy. no tuning or anything involved
however, you may get a CEL because you lose the 'compression sense' section of the L61 ignition. you'll get PO300
for the LSJ head, their coils are ideal. bolt right on, and super easy
to use their coils on an L61 head may be a bit tricky though

I have an LSJ in this car, so in the Jbody world we've had a few guys either swap to the LSJ head, or steal the LSJ valve cover for the L61 and modify the coil cover to fit the L61 ignition
