Make your YouTube videos HD

Ok well this isn't total HD but much higher quality. I have watched many videos and some have a "watch in higher quality" link with the exception of mine and this pissed me off because all my new videos I am shooting with my HD camcorder were not getting any justice in the quality department. So for those that want to link there videos from here in "HD"(thats what I am going to call it) or just search and watch videos in HD here is how.

If you are on YouTube and want to watch any video in HD and its not offered type in this code at the end of the video URL:

&fmt=18

Try it, its much much better quality and easier watching, at least for me.

Now to me here's the the big advantage to this code. When linking your videos on this site post the code at the end of you video's like this:

Click both links and see the difference
Low Def:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEjxipt4hug

HD

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEjxipt4hug&fmt=18

Now I hope this is helpful for you guys I just I thought that I would share my findings. I am going to go back to my post today and relink every thing with the "HD" code. I wish I could say that I found this out on my own but it was some guy on YouTube, I am just spreading idea. I did a search on here and found NOTHING so if it is a repost just delete it.

Any video that is capable of playing in a higher quality will have a link just below the player saying click to play in high quality.....

Not all will have that option. I don't know why some do and some don't. 90% of my videos are ether 1080 or 720p and it doesn't offer it. That code will improve pretty much any video that was uploaded and downgraded.

My compressed MPEG's always have that option. My compressed WMV's don't have the option.

There's little scripts you can get for Firefox that automatically add it to every YouTube URL but be careful where you get them from cause they can eff up your computer.
