Do you have a mustache and a 25 gallon hat like Burt Reynolds too? J/K. My mom had a camaro of that body style when I was growing up.

Couple things off the top of my head. First off whats the duration @.050 cause I doubt it'd idle in gear with what you listed. Second why are you staring that poor engine? My 400's ran nothing less then 795 cfm quadra jet carbs re-built by me with all Edlebrock parts inside. Hell my custom built 427ran a 950cfm quadra jet! The intake is great. Be careful Pontiac engine DO NOT LIKE high rpm! Those 3:73's you have are too steep! I'd recomend a set of 3:42's.

Duration at 050 inch Lift: 231 int./240 exh.
when i bought the car it had the 650 cfm Edelbrock and seems to run ok but i hate tuning the thing and i was going to get a Holley Street Avenger Carburetors 770 cfm just to be safe and the car idles fine when it is in gear and i love the 3:73 it is alot better then what was in it when i got it

Ok so your cam is really .281 intake and .290 exhaust, that sounds better! As for the carb Pontiac engines LOVE and I do mean LOVE the spread bore design of the Quadra Jet. I tried Holley's all the way up to and including 950 dominators and none ran any better then the Quadra Jets I built. Try to find an older Q-jet of around 795 at the lowest and 850 at the highest cfm. Edlebrock makes all the hi perf rebuild kits for them and they KICK ASS once done right. Your 3.73's may be fun red light to red light just be careful and stay south of 6000 rpm unless you know the engines built well.

Just so you know I've had big block Pontiacs for about 15 years. My last one I built started out as a 1969 400 with an arma steel crank and forged HO rods. I had the block bored 2.00 over and all 8 cylinders sleeved and the sleeves bored to except 455 pistons. The crank was spin ballenced to 15,000 rpm nitrated, chamfed, relief cut, and knife edged and ballenced with welded in heavy metal slugs. The piston, rod, wrist pin assembly was ballenced to .000 grams and used total seal rings. I ran a 8 qt oil pan with a high volume pump. cam specs I take to my grave with me as I had it custom ground. But I will give you a hint, Pontiacs like lobe seperation of 112 to 115 degrees. It allows cylinder persure to sky rocket! I ran 62 casting heads with a 3 angle valve job, one piece stainless valves with sodium in the stems, titanium locks and keepers, 1.65 Harlon Sharp roller rockers, double row chain, topped with an Edlebrock Performer RPM intake that was ported and an 950cfm Q-Jet built by me. The car dynoed at over 550 RWHP and 600 ft lbs of torque. I ran it thru a built 350 with a 3500 prm stall the flashed at 4000 rpm. The drums were drilled to allow the fluid to transfer faster and had a custom built valve body, blow proof bell housing cover and feed into a custom built hollow aluminum drive shaft. I ran a 10 bolt GM rear with disc brakes and 3.42 gears with a T/A rear cover for preloading the gears. Exhaust was dual 3 inch custom made pipes with an X pipe. 2 chamber 40 series Flowmasters and the tail pipes ran under the rear end to the rear bumper. I ran 2 degrees of negative pinion angle and Lakewood traction bars. The best I got out of it was an 11.20 at 146mph. The car was sidewasy all thru first due to no slicks.

Your not too far away if you need any help. Look for a wrecked Trans Am and rob it for the tach parts you need. Also don't listen to the Q-jet haters out there. The hate cause they don't know what to do with them.
