LOL it's funny, my best friend tries her best to be "outdoorsy girl" but she didn't do so hot on our camping trip. She was OK with helping me set up the tent, was NOT OK with bugs, was DEFINITELY not OK with the shower/bathroom place. I think it was only about 2 hours in, when we went to register for all the Dragon stuff at the main "lodge" and she was already trying to weasel her way into a hotel room and out of the tent. I had a blast, but I felt bad for her. She's never wanted to go camping since.

I love my sleeping bag, if there weren't bears I'd sleep outside lol. There is a lodge here, but I've been going to Yosemite and Kings since I was 2, so it's tent all the way for me lol. And luckily mosquitoes HATE me.

So if a bear had been chasing me I woulda been dead, and yes I know even if I had zipped it up it probably would have gotten in the tent anyway lol. So I go in tell my dad, he is half asleep stumbles out of the tent with an axe and my 2 lil cousins walk up and I guess there was ANOTHER bear down where they were. It was a loud uneasy night.

haha they were trying to shoo the bear away. What an ordeal, i bet you never forget that one!

Wow, yeah I've never seen a bear in person. Supposedly they have them in the U.P. but I haven't seen any when I've been up there, and I'm looking.

Yes glass lenses are awesome. I would never buy anything other than nikon, you will be pleased with whichever model you choose.

I'm not bothered by anything. Nervous about bears, but not really fearful. Spiders, snakes, none of that stuff bothers me (when I was 4 I snuck a black snake into my sleep sack and brought it home from a camping trip and tried to keep it as a pet....actually took 2 days for my mom to find it).

You have to know the right times, and places to go. Usually right around dusk, and they're up and about till 9 am, though you will occasionally see them walking around in the afternoon. I've had best of luck early ass morning, or dusk/later at night. I saw a young bear, probably a year or so, completely rip open a fallen tree, it's crazy how strong they are.

Haha yeah I saw a water snake up there, tried my best to keep up with it but those lil things swim fast. See a lot of garter, king and water snakes. Only seen one rattle snake. Deer are what you see most, then bears. Cougars are a whole different story.

Yes. Tis much better to observe their natural behavior vs baiting them to come near.

Would have to get some binoculars, then go hide a safe distance away from the jar of honey and see if Winnie the Poo shows up.

That works a lil better lol, just stick to areas near water with a lot of fallen logs, they like to eat bugs.
