Be a different thread if i wasnt careful on my way home during the day lol left the house and it was clear and 2 hours later we had 3" of snow on the roads and everyone was in a complete panic. Got stuck trying to go up a hill by my friends house, sat there for a couple minutes with the tires spinning at a light, slid sidways into a curb pulling out of the neighborhood, fortunately it was buffered by snow. Almost got rear ended by a toyota tacoma and a nissan maxima that wasnt happy with me doing 30 on a main road, then realized why I was going so slow and leaving distance when it came time to stop behind me, and almost put the car into a 360 spin when a guy tried to dash out in front of me from a hidden drive and i jammed the brakes hard and the car went sideways lol fortunately had a good recovery and didnt wind up sliding into the on coming traffic or the guy pulling out who couldnt get traction either. People have no respect for winter weather until its too late. Funny though because I was complaing to a friend of mine on the phone when I got home about how shitty the car handles in the snow with the falken 912's, and he was driving home and a blue SS/SC went past him in on coming traffic with the brakes completely locked, car going sidways and the driver behind the wheel with an intense look of fear in his eyes. lol
lol yeh summer tires, no go in the winter time, my buddies GTO would just sit there and spin if you just put it in drive and let your foot off the brake. Worst part about today was there was no brine on the road prior to the snow falling, either they ran out or just didnt believe the hype from the weather forecasts from the last 6 times they predicted massive snow storms and nothing ever happened. We were supposed to get 2-4 inches here and we wound up with closer to 7" when it was all said and done right before it turned to freezing rain.
I enjoy the 4 seasons, but salt wreaks havoc on the car. My fuel lines are rotted to ****, I knew the car had seen the weather when I bought it in 2013 but I didnt realize how bad it was until I went to do the fuel filter and chunks of the line broke off trying to remove the filter. Ill probably wind up buying the fineline stainless steel fuel line kit on rockauto sometime this summer and see about replacing them one at a time. Pot holes are probably the worst part about it, they leave the roads with CRATERS in them, and then just go around throwing loose asphalt in them as a patch. Had a friend hit one on a local road here on his way home from work last year, blew all the side curtain air bags and dash air bags in the car, wound up being totaled out completely by the insurance company because of the sheer cost of the air bags and the damaged wheel and control arm. People were actually suing the state for damage to their cars. I am very weary about leaving the enkei's on in the winter time because of that, but i dont have the money for a spare set of wheels and dedicated winter tires at the moment, not with putting money into the SC and needing a set of drag radials.
Not as hard as it looks. 9 times out of 10 if its bad enough where winter tires are needed, we are in a state of emergency and travel ban anyway. Conti DWS are my preferred choice for all seasons but like i said, price is a big factor ATM. Cheapest i can get the conti's are 147 a tire.
I'd definitely consider replacing that...
I got lucky my winter car was garaged every winter before, I almost feel bad but oh well. Got it rust sprayed threw on 205/50/17 Nokian R2's and even though it's an open diff F35 in the IRL it still does amazing in the snow. No comparison to the brand new all seasons I had last year, Kumho Ecsta 4x 225/45/17.

The best budget ones are General Altimax Arctic, just leave the studs out if you aren't on snow covered roads 50% off the time or more, which annoyingly I am this year. I have 3 sets of Ion Redline wheels, but no way it's worth shipping them. They clear Brembo's but I would highly recommend a 5mm spacer.
only break i caught this week was the conveniently placed clearance sale on tires-easy lol unfortunately t he damn falken's went up to over 140 a tire again, but I picked up two 245/40/18 ohtsu FP700's for 76 a piece. Gonna replace the two fronts and throw the other falken from the other side up on CL.
