I should be close to 300hp with the hahn intake installed. On a car that weighs about 2900 pounds that is a a power to weight ratio of about 9.6. Those are very respectable numbers at a minimum.

Aye jus fyi.. a g5=a Cobalt.. interms of a lotta stuff... ss/na=gt, base=base= parts are all interchangeable
What Rims do you have??
I have an LNF (09 cobalt SS/tc BTW) so maybe you can actually take my opinion...
You're car looks like any other blk cobalt out there with a high rise spoiler
(I have a blk 09 with a low rise...thinking bout doin a swap to a sedan midrise...)
I can barely tell what rims those are, but they look stockfish with a couple more spokes...

I've heard the Hahn intake is really good tho.. jjus to get back on subject
it sounds really good, but in all honesty, cant sound that much better, if not as good as the Injen CAI,
I say get the K&N Short Ram intake an run with that.
From what I've heard, it's the best on a stock tune with the best fuel trims, an plus.. well it looks nice
I have the Injen CAI btw, but did tons of research for I bought one..

really jus buy what you want.. allota mods come down to preference really... Not ALL... but a lot.. CAI bein one of em..

Your intake is going to hurt you more then help without a tune, it skews the fuel trims horribly.

And actually, no that is not a respectable power to weight ratio. Try again

I am a fan of many cars that are not an LNF cobalt, so your opinion can matter just as much as the next person. Sorry I don't look up stats for g5 in my spare time I think for the Gt or whatever they call it I am pretty close.

G5 GT has 171 hp IIRC. Same 2.4L motor as the Cobalt SS/NA and Sport.

Back to something productive. Thinking about going catless exhaust. Has anyone ever had issues with emissions for doing that?

Without a custom tune you will likely lose power with the Hahn intake. And crank hp ratings are not at the wheels. Take roughly an 8% drivetrain loss for whp.

PS - I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm trying to give you info.

Do you have emissions testing in your state? If so, have your stock downpipe on for the test, and swap the catless downpipe back on after. You may need a custom tune for the catless downpipe though.

Some people get a check engine light for not having cats while others do not get it.

an no, with the Hahn intake, you should be around 300 bhp, but I think those are "respectable" but jus ok numbers for a cobalt ss/tc...after all, all you did was put an intake on.. I got an intake/dp/charge pipes, so I sittin somewhere around.. 320? I dunno..

If you're askin bout the hahn intake, check out what i said earlier, if not... eh...

No emissions testing in my state. I have never heard of hahn intake throwing a check engine light or needing a tune, and I have looked into it quite a bit. Anyone else experience this?

I'm really trying to avoid getting anything except the gm tune I already have. I am trying to get as much HP as possible without voiding the warranty.

So because someone has a G5 and not a Cobalt, their opinion on your ugly ass wheels doesn't matter?

Well you should have no problem then. Buy a catless DP ASAP! One of the best mods other then a custom tune that you can do for the LNF. The intake doesn't throw a CEL, the catless downpipe might though. The Intake will skew your fuel trims and will probably rob you of hp before you get a Trifecta or HP Tune.

GM will do anything to void your warranty. If you ever need warranty work done on the drivetrain, return to stock and Trifecta or your HP Tuner can reflash you back to GM Stg1 and GM will never know.

Gm stage 1? And in all honesty i have heard better things about the k&n short ram as compared to hahn. K&n wont skew your trims as much, i have been running one for about a month with no problems and it sounds good. I am just waiting to get a tune.

It's a table in your ECU (car's computer) that you can only see with tuning software. Your car gives fuel to the car based on the maf's readings and intakes normally mess with that. The LNF is a very touchy motor.

So your saying without an aftermarket tune my ECU won't know what to do with the extra air flow?

Also will the tune add on to what gm stage 1 has done or would it be replacing it?
