Snake in a Tree

Went to the park yesterday. A few days ago there was a nest of baby birds in a hole in this tree. When I checked it out again it had a snake just chillin' inside. Don't know if he ate the birds or not. His eyes are cloudy looking so he's definitely about to shed.

Crappy iPhone pics but still kind of cool. Had to use the flash.

When he does shed he'll be a lot brighter/more colorful. Pretty sure it's a rat snake. Around here there are four kinds of poisonous snakes (rattlesnake, copperhead, cottonmouth and coral snake). All you have to do is learn what these four look like. Anything else is safe and okay to bite you or whatever. I'm not sure what this snake is but I know it's not venomous.

I like the cricket chandelier in the fourth pic from the top.

Just thought I'd share.

Also caught a baby red-eared slider and a musk turtle that smelled really bad. Also saw two other species of snakes.
