Definitely made me lol.
Although I see BP at fault for causing the issue in the first place, I dont think I can blame them for the failed attempts to plug the leak. Everyone seems to think that it would be an eassy task, just shove a cork down it or something like that. I have not heard any good ideas to fix it that they haven't tried or are trying, other than the tactical nuke option lol.

The normal way is to collapse a well. It's counter drilled at an angle, stuffed with some explosives, and caved in with brute force, then the well is surface capped with a concrete like epoxy slurry. This process takes about 20-25 days and wasn't attempted simply because they thought they would be faster putting a top cap on it not realizing the flow rate was 50 times higher than originally projected. Idiots at BP fired Haliburton who would otherwise cap it inside of three weeks....
