Track Mode & New PB - 13.3@99 All-Motor!

Went to the track for the weekend, just some dudes from the Ontario J-body club having some fun, took a few pics of the car in its "Track Mode".

Car ran awesome, considering how hot it was (91*F with the Humidex), still got a new PB tho...pics and timeslip below.

Still no 12 obviously...but there is more in it....I'll just have it find it.

I think there is a vid or two kicking around...I'll try and track them down and post.

Gonna be the hardest .3 to extract now. Car is mostly launch, as depicted by that stout 1.7 60ft. Car would probably run around a 14.0@99-100mph on street tires. Pretty damn respectable.

I'm assuming its fully gutted, etc?

The launch is key in any car, there is more to that 1.7 60' than just the drag slicks tho.

On street tires it would probaly run high 13's and trap in the low 100's

Trapped 101mph last year on my old motor and setup with 2.0 60'.

1.7 is pretty good but there is still room to improve, N/A hondas are down into the 1.5's now. It was only my second time out with the new motor/tires.

The car is 150lbs lighter than a bone stock sunfire, it's missing the rear seats and carpeting. Everything from the front seats up is still there (seats, door panels, headliner, full dash with hvac).

I still daily drive this car to work for most of the summer, that track I was at is 6 hours from my house, street drove it there and back, it is by no means a drag car.

It will for sure run a low 13.0-13.1 in it's currnet state with some cooler air, I know I have my work cut out to break the 12 second barrier tho.

Would you like me to make an appointment for us at Dasilva? Maybe we could stop in there on Saturday on the way down

Ive noticed that as well, 3rd and 4th feel dead, not sure what the deal is.

Cylinder head is ported by AMMFAB, 300 @ .500 intake, 215 @ .500 exhaust. It's the best flowing head out there.

I don't know if it's my cams (comp stage 2) letting me down, or even a weird tuning issue.

I can't run for crap at St. Thomas. I would like to try out other tracks as well. I need to invest in some slicks. Don't go to Dasilva. I personally know someone who brought there Mustang there and he blew it up. My brother had his truck done there too and he also nearly blew it up. He is apparently a god when it comes to Mustangs but he sounds like a bad tuner. Go to Kevin out there. I'm about to head up there when I get my meth and smaller pulley installed.

Simply my opinion. Also, I wouldn't mind racing you for fun.

now that's mind blowing. what's the flow on the head like at .100, .200, .300, .400?

That does sound like the best flowing 2.2 head out there though. LSJ can flow a little more though. Maybe you might want to looking into swapping.

other than tuning, I'd probably put the blame on those cams. I've never thought those original comp cams that came out back in the day were all that great.

That's certainly not the best flowing LSJ head. It's a good flowing head for sure though.
