They are probably going to write it off as they will only give you like $8k. It saves them $4k

That's pretty dumb. They don't have anything to do with GM writing it off.

I think so. From the way you went off the road you probably screwed up a lot of stuff underneath. You screwed the bumper, rad supports, rad, who knows what else. Probably suspension damage, possibly other stuff on the undercarriage.

He tried to miss a deer, that doesn't mean he was speeding. I've been going under the speed limit and tried to miss a deer before, you can't stop 3,000 lbs of metal on a dime. Doubly true when it is snowy and slick.

yeah and you also have to look at it like this, it maybe only a few grand for parts if you find them yourself. but insurance company is going to go to a professional bodyshop, and that bodyshop is going to more than likely buy new parts from GM and they also have to pay employees for their labor fixing it, and then the insurance company prob has to dish out money to pay for a rental car for you to use in the mean time. so its alot more than just parts that adds up to that $13,000.

Ask them how much it'll cost ot buy it back.. I bought might back for $2,000.. soooo that'd give you 11,000 to spend on fixing it..

Ask for the recap of damage and see what the problem was and why theyh felt there was so much damage.

Totalled cars can still be bought and kept they just have a mark on the title. and as far as not touching aftermarket parts... its still your car. You can go in and collect your belongings and that includes aftermarket parts.
