'09 ss gms1
'09 ss gms1
I just bought a '09 SS GMS1 a couple days ago at the dealership. A couple hours after I left two things came on. The tire monitoring system and the CEL. I believe I have located a few possibilities on what the could be. Now for the CEL autozone gave me four codes. P2178, P0089, P0101 and P0106. I have Googled each code individually and seen what the issues associated with them are. Considering they all seemed to happen at once, does anybody have a better idea what the issue could be? All I know that is down to the car is the GMS1 and a Magnaflow muffler. I will be taking it back to the dealership Tuesday to see if they could get a better idea as well. Thanks in advance. EDIT - I guess I'll give you some symptoms. Every now and then when I'm driving the car will bog like if you take the clutch out too quickly when you're in first, but at about 40mph or whatever I'm driving. The boost gauge needle will jump up and down randomly. Once I was in WOT in second and I was running no boost.

The dealer should 100% cover any issues with the car for up to 30 days for used vehicles, unless there's some sort of extended warranty involved. Either way, it's the dealers issue to fix and not yours.
Even being a Dodge dealership rather than Chevrolet? EDIT - I've looked it up unfortunately Florida doesn't have any laws that require dealers to repair out of warranty cars in any amount of time. Luckily it's a dealership my father worked at for 20 years so they may decide to help once they look it over.

Oh wow. That one's new to me, but then again I don't live in Florida so the laws must obviously be different. Usually (or at least from my understanding) dealers are responsible for repairs on a vehicle from anywhere from 14 to 30 days unless you agree to purchase the vehicle in "as is" condition.
As far as your issues go. The first places I would check would be for a boost leak and for possible issues with the lower map sensor located in the lower charge pipe between the intercooler and throttle body. The P0101 is your primary code for a boost leak, however a P0106 can follow a P0101 sometimes. The same can work in reverse though. What I mean by that is, if the lower map sensor fails, the ecm will throw a P0106 code first which can also be followed by a P0101. Either way, I would start by checking for loose couplers, cracked piping or broken or cracked endtanks on the intercooler. Broken stock intercoolers are a very very common issue for these cars.

That was my first thought but I filled them all up to 33 and the issue is still going on. It's funny, I filled them up and CEL goes away yet my SVC stays on... -_- Of course I imagine the CEL wil be back.
When you get that message, scroll the info messages and see if any of the tires show 0 psi or ---. This could indicate one sensor in a particular wheel is bad. From there you would need to reset the location of the TPS sensors to determine the exact wheel. Many times the sensors on the dash don't match where they are at on the vehicle due to people rotating tires and not resetting the system.
owner mauel will have a reset instructions, ive heard gm.has the best tire sensors outta the big 3, i find it hard to believe, mine will come on once every couple years
Hold down the Lock and Unlock buttons on your key fob at the same time
Wait for the car to honk.
No go to Front Driver tire, add or remove air
car will honk when it detects the change
Move to passenger front tire and do the same
then passenger rear, then driver rear.
Remember to wait for the honk before moving to next tire.
It will honk 2 or 3 times when you are done.
Tire sensor batteries in these cars tend to last 5 years / 60k on average. I have a 2008 with 80 miles and I've lost two so far. One at around 55k and one at 75k. I just buy a replacement online and have CostCo swap it in when I get new tires. It's free if you do it then, otherwise you need to pay their typical tire mount charge (like 15 bucks).
