2.0L Detonation

I was on the freeway this morning playing around with a v6 mustang when I had some detonation. All I have is a K&N intake, I was wondering if I should get a tune or have a GM dealer reflash the ECU or what.

Why do you think you have 'detonation'? The engine senses knock and addes timing retardation to compensate. It shouldn't 'detonate'/knock at all, ESPECIALLY with just an intake.

Its kinda hard to explain. i was in third going around 85 and its almost like the engine cut out for a split second then picked right back up again where it left off. I just hope its what your saying it is. lol.

Ive had it happen about 4-5 times since Ive had my car (12000 miles). its normal. I dont like it either, but no check engine light comes, and afterwards car is perfectly fine. Ive even seen this on a dyno graph once. I dont think its anything to be alarmed about.

I've experienced that once but it was while flooring it on a circular on-ramp with almost no gas. I attributed it to the fuel being sloshed away from the pickup.

Mine does it at 3k RPM on a regular basis. Just like a little stutter, but definetely noticable. Never had it happen at WOT.

It's not detonation because the computer would sence it and retard the timming to compensate. And it wouldn't detonate if your running 93 octane, even if you arn't it still wont detonate.

Well I havn't herd what the sound in question, but going off the video that was posted it actually sounds like he goes over a bump in the road and the tires loose traction for a bit. Or possibly a clutch slip, but the clutch wouldn't catch right back like that. Going off what some other people said, it sounds like something to do with the supercharger and the PSI it puts out at that RPM.
