Its really wierd sound it sounds more "mechanical" than usual this started after I turned around on a road that was a good 5 inches higher than the shoulders and scraped the bottom pretty good but there no damage besides a few scrapes and a loose bolt in my exhaust.

I'm taking it in tomorrow for that and to get my belts and pulleys lubed and tightened because I can hear one of them rattling, get me a new front tranny mount, fix my broken shifter arrow, check my software, and tap my 2 broken valve cover bolts if they dont want to take my first born, otherwise I will find somewhere else to do that but I do need to buy the bolts.

Thats your ECOTEC engaging into the "ECO" mode which creates this super air intake charge...kind of like VVT but cooler!

Is it a ticking sound? and does it happen only when turning in one direction?

Our Cobalt is making a ticking sound when we make sharp right hand turns. It's not the CV joint (i don't think) as it's not that loud. It's more like the sound of taking a butter knife and hitting a piece of tin.

We're taking it in tomorrow.

well the clicking i am told is the injectors pulsing and I am getting a whole new shifter assembly, and the noise on letting off of WOT is the tranny spooling down and supposedly the front tranny mounts are cast with a slit in them<<<<this was told to my service advisor by the tech but the advisor said that when I come to pick it up if I'd like he would look at it with me to get it replaced. All that after arguing with the service manager over my warrenty and I pulled the well GM has an intake, header, and exhaust out and the exhaust is made by an aftermarket company and that shut him up and he said then that they would look at everything and fix whatever wasnt being caused by my parts, just like they are supposed to.
