2007 Cobalt 2.2L - Weird Noises

Hello, this is my first post in the Cobalt Forums, and I don't have a SS edition Cobalt if that makes a difference. ( If the 2.2L didn't already give that away :P )

I have a 2007 Cobalt LT and have a couple noises that I have no idea what they are.

1st Noise
When revving to 3800-4000+ RPM, my car makes this horrible SSSSSSSSSSSS noise. Or another example Makes a horrible hissing sound.

Had a friend drive with me one day and he thought the sound was coming from underneath the car, but from the drivers side it sounds like its coming from the front. Its really so loud its tough to tell.

2nd Noise
When idling, the cobalt makes a very light ticking noise, very quickly. Tick tick tick tick tick tick . . .

Also with premium fuel it seems to tick even faster . . . But I believe the recommended octane is 87 for the 2.2L.

Any sound overpowers it, just turn on the radio, or start to drive it etc. It only happens in idle, but not just in Park, happens in every gear.

3rd Problem (I've already read it on the forums)

The brakes suck. I already had them checked out and the dealership resurfaced them. But a week later they started to stop weird again. Judging from all the posts about the brakes, it seems like the cobalt breaks suck, oh well.

By, "stopping wierd", do you mean that there is a vibration when braking? I ended up just going with aftermarket rotors and the problem stopped. But since you have an '07, I would make the dealer just give you a brand new set of rotors.

Oh, and welcome to the site!

the dealer pretty much refuses to give new rotors, they just keep resurfacing them. one the rotors are done u have to buy a new set. best bet is to just buy some aftermarket rotors

I would hope though that the dealer would treat this premature wearing as a special case. Its not like he has 50K on his car and is demanding new rotors. There can only resurface the originals so many times.
