2009 Cobalt SS/TC key stuck in ignition.
Why does it seem that I'm the only 09 SS/TC that didn't get a recall letter for this... I have 63k miles so they definitely won't do it under warranty without the recall. Ughmm...
You shouldnt need the letter. When my old cobalt had a recall i never received a letter. I read about the recall on here. Then i called my local chevy dealer (which i didnt buy the car from) and they typed in my vin and scehduled me to come in. It was an 05 with 62000 miles on it

they should do it as a courtesy repair. it is a known problem and be sure to tell them that. they will have newer style lock cylinders at the dealership. i asked for mine to be replaced this friday when i get my tires installed and oil changed.

are you over your 36k warranty? I'm going to try to go today... but I doubt they'll do anything. Mine happened cause I left for 3 weeks and left my car there and it died completely... Come to find out my battery was bad so I bought a new one but when i first tried to turn it on with the battery dead the key locked itself. Not too sure if there is a fix for that or not.
hmm it shouldn't lock it in on position.. i am at 40,000km. i've heard of others having this problem. it's not because the lock is past warranty. tell them you researched it on some forums and the old lock mechanism is a poor design which causes the ignition to lock in the on position and there is a new design. you shouldn't have a problem.

lmao well im at 63k... lol a dealership was like i need to call the rep to see if we will cover it and you can come tmw and we will let you know. i'm like umm or not... im not leaving work for them to tell me its like 500 dollars. so i went to another dealer and they said would you be willing to pay a 100 dollar deductible and um thats nothing so lol
there is a bulletin out on it... don't pay for it. tell them the old style ignition cylinder is prone to sticking due to bad design..tell them to put the new style in. you just have to pretend you know what you are talking about and they won't try to charge you.. works for me everytime.
I did all that even got in contact with gm headquarters and they pretty much told me to go **** myself idk how I had to pay when ive had the car for a year and 2 months and had to pay to replace it

You people should really get your GM terminology straight.
