2009 SS/TC Shifter problems

Okay, so I have been doing research on my issue. Seems that other people had done more serious harm to there cars than I did. Basically when I gave a forceful shift from 2nd to 3rd I heard a pop and long story short the shift cable joint came lose and snapped out. The one that resets it vertically. It wouldn't wiggle around left to right freely, just up and down freely. It is able to be popped back in but I have to be very (overly) gentle with it or it comes back out. If you take off the plastic over the shifter assembly its the center line joint that comes out.

Has anyone else had this specific problem and have they fixed it. I heard an aftermarket STS fixes it, and some said it doesn't.

Please ask for clarification if need be, I know my wording is a bit off.
