3rd gear

when i open the car up merging onto the highway, 2nd gear close to redline and i try to shift into 3rd gear im locked out for a second then i can pop it in, this never used to occur but now its like the synchros are wearing out. ive never grinded any of the gears! and its not like i do this on a daily basis, but its something ive noticed happen over the past week or so.

Probably due to the engine rocking on the mounts....try an Ingall's torque damper.

You just need to re-adjust the shift rods under the shifter.

One cable moves when you go front to back and another when you go side to side. If one is slightly out of adjustment it will " lock " you out of certain gears.

If the front to back cable is off you won't be able to fully engage the gear, if the side to side cable is off it will hit the " gates " between gears.

The engine moving isn't causing the problem.

Pretty much, you may as well be honest because if they want to take it for a test drive to investigate the problem they're not going to be able to reproduce it without pushing it. I was wondering how I was going to explain my problem to the dealer (when I upshift, rev or push past 4000rpm I hear kind of a squealing noise, hard to explain) since it's easiest to hear around the redline but if they give me a hard time I'll just say it happens most often when merging on the 400 series highways .
