Those 40k mile service packages they offer at the dealer are are scam, by 40k they only thing it will have needed is to have the tires rotated and oil changed regularly and new fuel filter/air filter. Manual says Auto trans fluid at 40k but only under severe duty. Might be needing new brake pads pretty soon.

yeh it is all just basic maintenance stuff. As long as you maintain your car (like change oil, ck filters, spark plugs, etc) then you need nothing. It is all stuff that you can do yourself. Your cabin air filter is probably pretty skanky at 40k, and clean/replace your engine air filter.

save your money, oil change, check air filter and brake pads. That's all I would recommend.

My Cobalt is at 42,600 miles and all I do is make sure I change my oil every 3k to 4k miles, check my CAI cone, and make sure my brakes and coolant are good. However, I did just have to get brand new tranny fluid installed (not by choice though) damn rock.

in the glove box, you actually have to remove the glove box and there is behind a piece of plastic with tabs the cabin air filter.

oh my god i just checked mine and its caked, i mean CAKED with dirt, i stuck it back in and started the car and turned on my AC and then took out the filter and it was like night and day for air flow. I noticed it wasnt blowing as hard but i didnt know it could be the filter. I'm kinda afraid to leave it in there knowing its so dirty....

$10 air filter. Just change it. One better you can always take a thing of compressed air to it to clean it off if you don't have the stash for that.
