ABS and ESC faults with New Rear Hub
ABS and ESC faults with New Rear Hub
I've done multiple searches on here and can't find a solution to this problem.
I've just replaced a rear hub assembly on my '09 Cobalt ss sedan due to bearing failure but the new hub gives me sensor faults for ABS and ESC. I've had the same problem with 2 different hubs from 2 different manufacturers. First was a Timken H590088 and second was a moog but I don't have the part number available right now.
Did I get two faulty parts in a row or am I using the wrong hub for my car?

After the first hub had the problem I reinstalled the stock hub so I could exchange what I thought was a faulty one and the sensor problem cleared. Then the fault returned when I installed the second new hub. The sensor on both new hubs is physically longer than the original but I figured they've just been redesigned. Is it likely these aren't the correct hubs for my car even though they fit correctly and are the parts supposedly for the vehicle from two different suppliers?
Does no one have any insight into this? The original hub sensor measures 5.6megohms and works for the abs but has bad bearing. Both new hubs sensors measure 1.76kilohms. Since they both read identical I tend to think they aren't faulty but they are the Wrong part for my car yet the suppliers don't list any other number as being correct.
Does anyone know what is the correct rear hub assembly for 2009 Cobalt ss sedan?

If the resistance is different between the two then the car will hate it. That's how almost all sensors work and most new cars are very picky. Replace almost all parts with factory matching parts.
Hope it works for you.
Thanks umrdyldo. That link does appear to be the right part but it didn't clarify what was wrong with the ones I had without taking a chance on a third hub from a third supplier haha
Turns out both places sold me hubs for 2008 ss and there is a difference in the sensor for the 2009 ss. The seconds supplier managed to get it right on the second attempt. So after doing 6 hub swaps the problem is solved.
