Ok, I have a 09 SS/TC with 33k. Took it to local GM dealer, kept getting low coolant display. They did a pressure check to cooling system and compression checked the engine. No visual external leaks, They put a dye in coolant, topped it off and told me to come back if it gets low. One day of normal driving and got the low coolant warning. Took it back and know they see the dye in the oil. No over heating, no smoke, no loss of power. I read some posts about porous blocks? Anybody know of a TSB about this. I do have an extended warranty. Hope it will be covered.

leave her at the dealer thats the good ol porus block lol. more prone to the 09s in eary mileage. gonna need a new motor as the coolant goes into the oil. happened to me went through 1.5 gallons of coolant in 2 days lol. you wont see any signs of it until its pulled apart and the oil is milky it should be covered

 

I do not believe there is a TSB.

But we have seen dozens of them now.

Find the customer service rep on here. They have helped multiple people.

 

Lucky you having the warranty. However you may still have a tough row to hoe. Can't remember his name, but someone on here had a heckuva time getting the warranty to cover it but he succeeded. Good luck

 

If your car is stock and still within its extended warranty then I dont see too much of a problem. Some dealerships do suck but some are very willing to help. Sounds like the one you've been to has been on top of it so far hopefully it works out quickly for you

 

Update. Finally got my car back in April. Long story short after they attempted to just do the top end. It went back to the shop a week later with same problem and ended up getting the LDK from ZZP. Did not pay anything out of pocket.

No. The private dealer I got the car from picked it up and took it to his shop.

 

^Talk about making out like a bandit!!! Ive always wondered what companies will do because I guarantee a LDK from ZZP is cheaper than a LNF motor from GM

 

GM dealer = $9500 parts and labor, $4500 for the long block. ZZP LDK longblock $1999 and has higher compression with a bit more HP.

 

Seems like you got pretty lucky in a way

 

GM dealer prices are insane. They were quoting me like $7500 for a shortblock. I can't remember if that was new or used.
