I'm 17 and I'm paying for my base G5 by myself. (Its in my dads name, but I make all the payments)

But I don't have to pay rent....

I wish I bought a cheaper car, this thing is gonna keep me from moving out...

That is so true. So they should do this

What mounts broke? Who installed your torque damper?

Just a thought here, but if your upper, passenger side mount was one of the mounts that failed, (the one below your damper). It could be blamed on the removal of that mounts bolts to install the damper??????

there is an Act, I forget the exact name, but its all about warranties and how the consumer is protected... you should probably do some google searching and find it

I drop my dad off, get out of the car for a few minutes to talk to a friend, and then get back in to try and leave. Start the car, normal, put it in gear, normal, begin to drive, BOOM, followed by several loud and evil sounds. Pop the hood, the engine is sunken down and tilted back. Im not a n00b so my first thought was the engine mount, so i had the damn thing towed into a chevy dealer at about midnight. I get a call a few days later saying that i broke the trans, the driver axle, and 2 motor mounts. Well today i went in there to see it and it was a mess. The trans casing was fractured in several places, two mounts were completely broken, and the driverside axle was completely torn out of the joint. The service manager is having a rep from chevy come out to look at it but says that it was most likely due to abuse. let me make one thing clear, I DID NOT ABUSE THIS CAR. I am 19 yrs old, I bought this car, I paid for it, BY MYSELF. I dont know any other 19 year olds who are able to say that they did this without "mommy" or "daddy". So the service manager says if they dont cover it, itll be about 6k. WHERE THE F*CK AM I GNA GET THAT? This is a 2007 Cobalt SS/SC, everyone i talked to said that this car SHOULD NOT be having this issue, even if it was being abused. Please give me some advice as to how i should proceed. Thanks!!!

ummm im 18, and bought my ss s/c myself

I had a gm mechanic install the TD, not on the clock of course. Also, i didnt finance it, i bought it outright. And i wasnt saying that im special for being able to buy the car myself, its just that most of the people i know are driving on mommy and daddys dime, im glad that there are so many young people who have their f*cking finances in order, and thats why this pisses me off so much, cuz if they screw me, then who knows

i got caught in several snow and ice storms last winter with my 07 SS/SC and all that happened to my car while trying to climb the mountain with near-bald Pirellis was the ABS computer had a complete mental breakdown. Front tires never dropped below 55 while the rears were going maybe 20mph... all the way up the mountain, all 4 miles of it! Engine temperature got to around 220F, but it never misbehaved other than that.

Once I got to the top, i rolled down my street, killed the ignition, refired the engine and all was good with the world until I buried the car in my driveway.

good luck with your car.

x2...alot of us are young and pay for our own cars...including myself. idk y the need for ur financial situation with the car had anything to do with ur problem. i'm surprised nobody said this yet but if u bought ur ss outright, then 6 grand is nothing. lol. but in all seriousness, it is utter bullshit. they weren't going to warranty my clutch blwoing a month after i bought my car but they did anyways. they said they needed a thicker transmission fluid compared to the thinner fluid that came with the car. but then my brother got hold of my car and blew it again, so that was 1000 of my money wasted. good luck. changing a dealers mind never really works out. i wanted to lemon my car, and they said the same problem had to occur 3 times. my car went in for 3 times for syncro damage, n well...here i stand with my same base ls balt.

n damn rukkee...its 7am...getting up for work?

aint it the truth lol 6k is nothing if he bought it outright...

but it is complete bullshit... they just don like paying for warranty damage... it looks bad if its there fault... also looks worse if they deny you n your 100% that its not your fault (with proof of course) but i dono how you can prove it

by the way i'm 19 too lol absolutely no help on my second car or this one

Yeah , i just got kinda frustrated when i was looking for a resolution to the broken car issue. If the thread title would have been " who pays for their own car " i prolly would have passed it by
