Problems/Service/Maintenance Do you have problems with your new 2.0, 2.2, or 2.4L? What kind of service did you have done?

Anybody else had these problems?

Anybody else had these problems? UPDATE! getting new clutch/flywheel

I did a a few searches, but couldn't really find any concrete answers so here goes. I have a 2007 Cobalt LS coupe that I bought new in December. So far I've racked up almost 13,000 kms and except for a couple of minor issues I'm very happy with the car.

#1) Since day one the drivers seat bottom seams to be loose. No matter how you jump into the passenger front seat or what kind of bump you hit in the road the seat bottom is solid as a rock, but the drivers seat isn't nice and tight like that. I took the car in at 5000kms to have this fixed, but after taking the seat apart and rebuilding the seat bottom it's still not as tight as the p/s seat. Normally I don't even notice it, but if I jump in the car really quick or go over a rough railway crossing or something I can feel and hear the seat bottom move a little. I know that the p/s seat is not height adjustable, so maybe that's why it's just the drivers seat that does this. It's no big deal, I just want to know if it's my car or if that's just how GM buit it. It doesn't seem right to me though.

#2) Also since day one the safety switch for the clutch pedal makes a really loud clicking sound when you fully depress the clutch pedal. Dealer says that's just how it is and I saw a thread on here with other people having the same issue, but it doesn't seem right to me that I have to turn up my stereo to drown out the sound. I had a look under there and the switch is a really loose fit.

#3) Sometimes I have a really hard time getting into first gear. This seems to happen more when the car is cold but not always. Usually if I put it into third or something then try first again it's fine. Maybe something is a bit out of proper alignment?

That's about it except for a faint squeaking sound from the L/R wheel when I hit a bump, but I'm sure the dealer can take care of that when I take it in next week for the semi-annual check up.

Cheers,
Andrew

i used to have that problem where it was hard to get in 1st once in a while, but it was mostly in the cold like you said, ikd if that had anything to do wtih it or not, but it hasn't happened in a long time. there was a thread kicking around and mostly everyone said its normal and nothing to worry about. idk about the other stuff though, sorry man

I don't know about your seat problem, but I do know that the sticky first gear is normal, nothing to worry about, and that the clutch inhibitor switch is NOT supposed to be clicking around OR loose. take it back to the dealer, call BS and make the replace it with a properly seated switch

I'm kinda thinking that's just how the shift linkage is sometimes too. It's not a Porsche afterall, I guess you can only expect so much from GM, especially in this price range. So nobody else has had that problem with their drivers seat? Must be something wrong with mine then, because it was pretty obvious even the first day I had the car. I have an appointment at the dealer on wednesday, I think I'll just ask to check out a new cobalt on the lot and compare.

Thanks for the input guys!
