Anyone ever replace a wheel bearing?
Anyone ever replace a wheel bearing?
Has anyone ever replaced a wheel bearing? I feel my front passenger side is bad because it is howling and making noises when I drive and it gets louder faster i go or even if I turn the wheel to the right and has pressure on that bearing it gets loud.. So what's the easiest way to get this done? Please and thank you.
get a new hub(wheel bearing assembly)
i just did a hub swap and i pulled both sides, it was straight forward
jack the car up, support it, pull wheel off, take off the caliper(2bolts) and the bracket(2bolts) take the pads off and the rotor. break loose the 30mm hub nut, it helps to keep the other side on the ground during this
then there are 3 bolts on the hub, u may need a bearing puller. mine both came off with ease but i had the puller just in case and i did need it after i put a bracket on backward and the rotor didnt go back out
make sure the new hub lines up with the abs sensor and the spindle and repeat the steps backwards or something
compress the caliper too

oh yea the hub nut, spray it with some pb blaster(if needed) and use a breaker bar and an extension if u have them. very helpful
Not so easy up here in the land of salted highways. My axle popped out of the hub easily but it took hours of beating on the hub with a mallet to get it out of the knuckle
Not sure if I'm completely right here but since the noise gets louder when turning to the right, shouldn't it be the front driver side bearing that's bad and needs to be replaced and not the passenger side?
Same here. Hours of beating and then hours of scraping the corrosion out of the aluminum spindle. (not really "hours", but that's what it felt like)
