Auto Lock, there MUST be a way to kill it?! :(

Ok folks, after I was helping my friend (he ran out of gas) and the car locked him out (we were pushing it to get it off the road) I figured... that's it, auto lock be gone! It's annoyed me enough times already, and I've only owned my 07 SS/SC for a few weeks!!!

I'm open to ideas, any ideas, even crazy things like a sensor on the inside handle that trigger an unlock when you pull on the handle, etc.

I figure WORST case scenario I can wire the ebrake handle to trigger the door unlock, but that's absolute worst case. I'd like it to either NEVER lock the doors without me telling it to, or unlock when the inside handle is pulled, either will do

Even better would be a BCM hack that could do it, but not too sure if anyones modded the BCM in the balt yet

I would still like to use my keyless entry so disabling the power door locks is not the solution.

I'm open to ANY and ALL ideas plz and thanks!

-Jamie M.
*Technical note: OnStar CANNOT unlock the doors if the ignition is in the "on" position.

Maybe the dealer can disable it with a tech2, you could inquire about it .

I'm pretty sure theres a way to turn it off if you go in the DIC where the oil life reset is.

When I had my 06 & 08 I could disable it by turning the ignition to the on position then scrolling through the DIC until you get to auto lock on off

Nope, I asked three dealers and they said it can't be disabled, on ANY cobalt

From the Manual (Pgs 2-9, 3-43, 3-46):

Automatic Door Lock: If your vehicle has power door locks, the doors will automatically lock when the shift lever is moved out of PARK (P) for a vehicle with an automatic transaxle. For a vehicle with a manual transaxle, the speed must be greater than 5 mph (8 km/h). The automatic door locking feature cannot be disabled.

Nope, the only thing you can adjust in there is the delay for the locking when you press the key fob lock button with a door open (DELAY LOCK). When the doors shut they automatically lock after 5 seconds if you have DELAY LOCK set to "ON" in the DIC. You can also control how the auto UNLOCK works (i.e. key off or when you put it in park, for automatics obviously).

See Auto Door Lock feature disabled - Chevrolet Forum - Chevy Enthusiasts Forums for the options you can change in the DIC.
